The snag with having the Saturday and following Monday as 'days of action' means that RM have the opportunity to dock 2 days wages from one week, due to how they calculate your weekly pay. It happened back in 2007 and a lot of people were unaware of the consequence until their pay slip came through the letterbox.

Keep it simple. One day a week leading up to Christmas will keep the pressure on RM to come to the negotiating table with serious intent on reaching a resolution. RM have had ample opportunity (dating back to January 2008) to talk with CWU about how to move the company forward to the betterment of all (phase 4). If RM thought the membership were not prepared to back taking action at this time, they completely misjudged the mood of their workforce. Only around 19,000 voted against taking action, leaving 100,000 plus who do not trust in, or share in, RM's vision of present and future modernisation.

Let us hope that common sense prevails so that an Agreement is struck by the end of next week - not a 'form of words' to appease and discuss infinitum, but an Agreement that the membership can endorse which gives long-term benefit to all.

Until such an Agreement emerges the action must continue, a constant reminder to RM in consequence of the arrogance and contempt they have shown in dealing with the important issues behind the dispute(s), both national and local up to now.

Agreed, stay out until there is an agreement that we can vote on. Not a delay that RM can utilise to get themselves over the Christmas Rush.
