London strikes

after only 1 day's national strike there is already movement on the talk's, why did the CWU let us in London lose so much money by striking alone. If nothing else this show's up the incompetence of the union.

In London we have taken 17 strike days because we have been attacked and our members bullied.

Now when we started the strikes there were no talks and now they are quite detailed. The question should be why did it take the union so long to ballot natonally.

In addition had London and other areas not have taken strike action then we would have betrayed our members who have had revisions imposed on them , earnings and attendances attacked, as well as jobs cut and indivduals complusory transfered.

In addition remember the so called agreement only put in a framework for further talks on the future and parrall discussions on the revisons which have been imposed. Thus far we have not made any significant progress on the future talks becuase Royal Mail dont want agreement on the future just consultation.

we worked to rule our office was up the pole but like many big offices in scotland the mail we were piling up was done by fellow union and non union members in smaller nearby offices,
good on london standing together,with their sheer weight of numbers they have through sacrifice in money terms etc have stood up to these attacks on our conditions and its through their efforts we have a chance of winning this dispute

Mailman you are correct that if London had not made the stand then each and every postie would not be able to continue with the way the management are dealing with the modernisation.
This bullying must stop and to ignore the cwu is a suicidal move. The joe public honestly have no idea of how things are and as for those offices that have crossed picket lines good luck to you, (you will need it ) I for one would not support any strikebreaker in any way.
We are all in the same boat here so if you think you are going to gain any more than me think again.

One small office in N.Devon all went in last time after they where shafted. This time only one scab went to work 99% of office stayed out be warned all you small offices its comming to you! stand up now or you will be shafted next.

One of our union reps fed all the WEAK-LINKS this crap about this strike was a london thing ,and so went in when asked who gave him this crap he said it was his mate yes you guessed it HE WAS A MAILS MANAGER .The same rep comes in early ,runs round his delivery thank goodness he resigned :lfo

it does look like we have carried the brunt of this dispute alone. if the union had got it's act together quicker we would of all been out together and a deal struck earlier. it wasn't untill the national ballot came in that the new's took any real notice of the dispute.
