do agencies pay the same as RM?

Post by templek »

are they supposed to pay the same by law or can they pay what they like as long as its not below the minimum wage? Can they pay overtime rates 4 working saturdays? Do RM? The reason i ask is because i worked 5 months last year as an agency casual. Now as a RM casual on 3 month rolling contract, my RM pay seems lower, rarely reaching 300, which was common with an agency. If i did a full saturday shift it was worth around £70 . I've never got that much from RM. So are or can agencies milk RM? I have not joined the union but wont be working friday despite being askd by management

for 39 hrs, i got £210, 48 inc sat it was £248. Im sure i was over 300 for 6 days with an agency, and around 250 for 5 days. I thought RM wld pay better than agencies. Is this what modernisation by casualisation means? At 1st i thought the dispute only affected permanent RM staff, not casuals like myself. I can see now after working over 2 hrs for no pay doing absorbs and other stuff. Will b signing up

I believe it's now a lower pay rate for the first 12 months of employment with RM. Also sick pay is crap etc. Full RM pay is about £347 before tax, so about £8.70 per hr. I take home around £265 for a 40hr week after tax/pension etc.

And yes, that is modernisation :wave

yes but dont forget when you temp for an agency its like you are self employed. You only get paid the days/hours you work. So for a full week it may seem like more but then you do not get paid holiday or sickness etc. So when you look at it like that RM pay more. This is why companies prefer temp staff - less expensive and less rights
