What would RM do if everyone resigned

What would happen if everyone resigned on the same day? How would RM cope? Could RM cope? I know this is only a theory but does anyone on here have any idea of what would be the outcome? I think just the threat of this happening would cause the government it's biggest ever headache.

We'd be out a job and they would just flood the place wi P/T'ers,illegal immigrants,tramps,brew-bums,the homeless,junkies,dwarfs....etc

That would take more than a month to sort out and by then the public would have been going at the government at full speed.

I was only thinking about this yesterday.

Realistically it's never going to happen, but can you imagine what would happen if not a single RM employee turned up and all resigned in protest? The effect would be unbelievable.

Yeah it would the illegals would be in our jobs in a week and Crozier and co would be hailed as the new super management of the new decade to come.

royal mail would be delighted to get rid of us because what they would do is replace us with people on the minimum wage,there would be no union membership so although there would be chaos for a while it would settle down and they would have a cheap workforce which will suit whoever buys into royal mail in the future.

You really think they would get the whole operation up and running in a week using temp staff?

Who's going to work the machines, do the manual sorting?

Can you imagine a DO full of completely inexperienced staff trying to do the IPS and throw walks off?

If they did ever manage to get out on delivery half of it would end up under a hedge or stuffed in a bin. It would be weeks and weeks, if not months before the whole thing was running properly, and by then imagine the chaos, backlogged mail and companies gone under because they can't afford to use couriers.

Nice plan but I could forsee that all the RM employed Reps would have their resignation accepted in full, and all active CWU members and regular PIAs. All the YES men would be parachuted into the vacant positions and in one fell swoop RM would have the CWU the really want, a talking shop that tells workers what the bosses want.

I thought the managers were happy to stay there didnt know that they were going to leave.

RM have the complete infrastructure in place. I'm sure companys like TNT and others could replace RMhaving the majority of the business covered. The missing link? The post boxes. I wonder how long it would take TNT and co to install green boxes alongside RM's red ones. I'm sure the green ones would get all the environmentally aware posters,with all the turmoil lately, would the public ever touch RM again given the choice, methinks not
