Having some trouble

Post by andy.m »

hi guys. been in the job around 1 year, and for the last couple of months, having some trouble with the DOM. Im on a different duty basically every week, which Is pretty crap, but get on with it, its the job. but over the month, he puts me on a duty, but come in to find he has actually changed me to another one, so im standing at my frame sorting letters, he comes up to me and says change of plan, your on such and such walk, and have to go on an empty frame and start again. also, i had a floating duty and the day off was a saturday, and he comes up to me and says, you cant have saturday off, i need you in to cover a duty so your day off is tuesday. surely if the duty im down for, i get that day off, can he go swapping my day off?

This happens all the time in my office, the DOM has his favourite reserves and never puts them on nasty duties. It is not on.

Work to your time if he moves you and you must resort. That one is simple. As for your day off, I am sure once you have been notified it's that day simple as, you after all have already made plans!

See your union rep mate, get it sorted.

Have you spoken directly and calmly to this person explaining your problem with the situ?

If you have, I would speak to your rep and find out what you can or cannot do. I would say though that you should not be moved. If someone wants to come in on their day off they should have to pick up whatever is left. I do not care how long they have been in the job, or how long you have.

Now that would be fair....

Oh s**t, forgot who we worked for then!

should be no problem guy asked to work his day off must cover vacant duty and not his own unless agreed by you
your rep and manager should know this having done staffing,no joy raise with area rep straight away.

this is also how it works in our office, except we are without a rep atm so the agreement is between the person working their day off and the person marked up to cover it.
same meat different gravy.

spoodoo, ask which managers decision it is as you wish to put in a grievance or even mention you feel your being bullied and harrassed off your duty, im not sure if they are allowed to do this. But try this 1 aswell ask to work your day off aswell and say you want to do the same guys walk on your day off and see if they kick him off for operational needs, if they dont then you have more of a case for being bullied and harrassed. Dont let them kick you off your duty, refuse to move untill a union rep is called in to sort it out.

KEEP A Diary of times of attendance duty numbers time you was moved what was said etc make them aware of your diary ask them to sign it, they will laugh at you no doubt. Make sure a work colleague is with you on the conversation regarding being moved around the office at late stages of prep. This way everything is covered,if they question and they will your performence any body looking into the case will soon point out its the crap mangement style that is actually in question and not your performance. Best Of Luck KEEP THE FAITH Brother.
