WE MUST STICK TOGETHER
I've had a look through the threads on here and it's vital that start re-focusing our minds on challenging the employer rather than each other.
I've read it all - too slow to ballot, too slow to call action, why are we offering a peace deal. Some of the views have more than a bit of merit but the point is we must stick together.
The decisions taken by CWU HQ are not always the right ones but we must remember that we elect these people every year and we elect them to lead us.
I read earlier that if we started a National strike in earlier we would have got a deal by now. Not true. In 2007 we took action from July and only got a deal in November because most of our action was during the light mail periods. This time the gap between now and xmas is so small we have RM under massive pressure.
A days action now will be worth at least 2 from 2007 in terms of a backlog.
On the type of action the PEC have called there will always be a massive debate. Should we all go out at the same time? Should it be functional? etc etc. The fact is that functional action has worked during the regional action that has taken p;ace thus far and it is the quickest way of building a backlog whilst only losing 1 days pay. I read someone earlier saying something like if Deliveries go out on Fri I will have a heavy Saturday. Thats the bloody point of a backlog. You work to your time and bring the rest back!
On the offer to RM, lets put that in perspective. Does anyone really think that RM will take that offer up. they are never going to agree to things such as an independent review of bullying because they will be exposed. The offer is about positioning the union as reasonable with the media / businesses / public.
I think we all need to realise where we are at this point in the history of our Industry. We must stand together. Colleagues in London, scotland, the south west and others have lost lots of pay already fighting for this union.
This is possibly the last ever national strike in RM if we are defeated. Every split in our rank increased the chances of defeat.
We must stand shoulder to shoulder and remember our real enemies
Managers who tell us to get in the real world then pocket £9000 bonuses
Managers who travel the length and breath of the UK in an attempt to smash our strikes
Directors who contribute nothing to our Industry yet rob £10m out of our coffers
Manager who lie, bully and intimidate CWU members everyday right across the UK.
if you don't agree with the action the contact your branch secretary and ask them to write to cwu hq.
Now more than ever we must stand united. If we do that then we can beat these b******s

The union must know that from now on, the tail 'aint wagging the dog anymore. Give us a crap deal, and we'll tell ya to shove it up your ass. There must not, nor do I believe there will be, a repeat of 2007.

Re : Lovejoys post.
Of course there is a lot of negative post's on here.
I would venture that most people who post on here are under the cosh of Executive action.
And in my office most people are now dis-heartend because now that such action has been implimented, they don't see how RM will agree to fullyremove it!
I have yet to see a official CWU statement that call's for all the Exec. action to be FULLY repealed - I have only seen statements that call for a local negotiations over these unagreed changes.
This sort of talk will see RM's changes being officialy recondised by the cwu and leave RM laughing
If RM negotiate a reduction in the impimented Exec. action they will still have gained 50-60 % extra workload for nothing other than having the balls to push it through quickly.
The CWU should have went straight to strike action a.s.a.p when RM gave the first office in the UK notice Executive action.
RM will try this action again and again if they think that they got away with it this time
We need to REMOVE all executive action BEFORE we talk, or we have lost ground before we even begin.
I want to win, but feel my strike action / loss of wages are is being undermind by the CWU leadership's inaction
Please comment If I am wrong...........

Re: WE MUST STICK TOGETHER
If our stance is that all EA is removed before we talk then we will never get anywhere. For example half the country have had EA imposed and not even balloted or taken action! We need a mechanism that allows the union back in. This coupled with a new work standards agreement will make it far easier for reps to challenge any unagreed savings etc. There will be deal to re-visit all EA at the end of this dispute and that is a very strong position for us.Cut Off King wrote:Re : Lovejoys post.

The other thing that we need to get away with is the focus on the EA. You ask what the point of going on strike is if EX has been implemented. How about Pay, Pensions, Shorter working week, Bullying, Fair treatment.
This is the biggest dispute in our history and we need to recognise that the hours taken our by EA whilst being a major issue is not everything. If we lose this dispute then as RM have already stated in the talks.......... This is just the start

exe action is f/t becoming p/t in RM eyes so if you don't want a part time workforce then it should be top of the agenda.

Re: WE MUST STICK TOGETHER
If you see all the CWU literature it is top of the list. The point is its not the only thing on there!! Anyway overall my contribution is about sticking together and that is what we simply have to dorural 3 wrote:exe action is f/t becoming p/t in RM eyes so if you don't want a part time workforce then it should be top of the agenda.

I just want to know the repercussions in advance.
