As someone who is a reformed Union member in that before I joined RM I saw no reason for having them, yes I was naive  , but I have had my road to Damascus conversion and frankly I get stumped when people say that the Union does nothing for me.

The reason it stumps me is that the CWU and other Unions are collections of like minded people who have formed a group to promote their concerns and wishes to the bosses and other interested parties. Therefore for the system to work it means that everyone who wants something from the Union must also be prepared to give as well, so when people ask or say "The Union has never done anything for me" is the question really "What have I done to help the Union".

My original question was about the yearly subs total. How the hell did it get to" what can i do for the union?" and the question still stands.
