HATE THIS JOB

When i started working for ROYAL MAIL it was the best job i ever had. Now i dread going into work. Some people may say just leave then, but whos going to employ a 40 year old with no skills. Looking back now it was the worst mistake i ever done applying for a job as a postman i should've leaned a trade or something. I really hope the union gets the best deal for us if they don't i will end up in the dole queue.

I ve been thinking the same recently with all this lapsing and 5 hours walking around in the rain. i suppose i took the good times of finishing early and ghost overtime and now its swinging the other way. I am hanging in there as i dont fancey being on the dole in my 40's either.

I wouldn't say Royal Mail was the best job I've ever had, but it was a reasonable job in the days when managers had all started out as postmen, worked their way through PHG and then became PED etc. There was a bit of mutual respect between managers and workers in the early 80s. These days, managers are mainly lying, underhand, oily bastards who you would be a fool to trust. These useless flunkeys aren't here for more than a couple of months before they turn up one fine morning in a tie they've borrowed from their dad and their old school shoes. Hey prseto! Another 'manager' is born! These dipsticks have the brass neck to sit there and issue Stage 1 and 2 warnings to people with better sick records than they'll ever have. I saw it often when I was a rep. They've recently finished a bloke in our office who had over 20 years service and had one long absence when it was thought he had cancer (he lost three stone in a few weeks). Fortunately, he didn't have cancer, but he had been issued Stage 1 and 2 warnings by an acting manager who was out to make a name for himself. There is some justice. The acting manager is now staring down the barrel of a Stage 3 because he couldn't get his arse out of bed whenever he had a cold.
Don't throw your hand in though lads! Just turn into work every day knowing you're morally better than the scum in the suits and ties, and that you earn your wages. They don't!

Most people hate their jobs. So i don't really think its anything unusual. It doesn't matter how old you are career changes happen at any age. I'm thirty - something and ive embarked in doing a Accounting degree, ive done 2 years and just 1 year to go but had to come back to this wonderful job . I love it.
I don't have any debt so i'm lucky.
Your never to young to change careers just have a gameplan to go with it.

we only have ourselves to blame, we have ruined the job ourselves by cutting it up everyday, by not working to rule and having 40 min meal reliefs. How many times did the union warn us? if you work to royal mail standars then you wont have to do any lapsing because quite simply you wont have time. But some people who can still make half an hour rush round their dutys to make this practise work and dont look at the long term impact.

i know :( i am also guilty of rushing around in the past to get the job done, but what people need to know is the more we rush the more work they will give us.

Yeah its incredible the running about that goes on in our office now,just waiting on them to paint lanes on the floor! 15 years in the job now, the past 2 1/2 years has just seen a rapid decline..bullying managers left right + centre..Lies lies + more LIES
