How do walk sequencing machines differ from ILSM's?

How do walk sequencing machines differ from ILSM's with updated software?

Is there any difference? My office has just has one LSM converted with the other 2 being done soon.

Are the proper machines better?

Walk sequencing machines are little stand-alone things for DOs, while iLSMs are AI connected, versatile and complex, and for MCs only.

i-lsm's are capable of doing the work of current MTT's and LSM's and as an additional bonus, they can also sequence mail for D.O.'s
If they do what they say on the tin, then we will have an amazing piece of kit. Tests on one of them being installed in our office show that they can run at 40k per hour, but as far as i know, that is on test mail and the jury is still out on what will happen when we run damp, crumpled, illegable mail pieces through it.

And with all complex machinery ........ when it breaks it's a little harder to put it right ..............as is proved with your car one of mine developed a fault and it cost a fair few sheckles to get it repaired (perhaps ripped off by my dealer) years ago when they had less to go wrong they were cheap and easy to repair you rember those days .tman.............

All i can say on this subject is SEEING IS BELIEVING!!! Walksorting machines were gonna be implemented 6 or 7 years ago, it never happened and if they were that great ie. cut costs then we would have them installed at every location by now. But we haven't.

So does that mean that there will no longer be a need for the Walk Sequencing Machines in the DOs?
Or will they still be needed, to finish the job?

No, they're in addition to the iLSMs, and dependant on geographical and/or existing MC capabilities. Some newer MCs have the space to install some CSSs, while older ones will have to rely on iLSMs plus CSSs in satellite DOs.
