I think to be honest they have to be given a chance. Perhaps new blood would help improve things but............................

they should not walk in thinking because they have been on a course they know everything. Just like a good postie starting out, they should keep their mouths shut and their ears open. Meaning learn about the job, the culture and the people first - then improve things if you can.

Unfortunately, most graduates believe they know what Management is about and then when they come up against a strong unionised work force, or even just one bolshie postie they have no experience, except the playground, to fall back on and it goes down hill from there.

I will give everyone of whatever position a chance to prove themselves, its a distinct pity that most, though not all, in RM Management have disapointed me to varying degrees.

I'm with Teebs on this one. I'll give anyone the chance, but I haven't been surprised yet. Perhaps it is the types of manager that RM are recruiting, young, inexperienced and convinced they know everything, especially when proved wrong. The problem with graduate managers is they have no experience of life, much less work.

in the College room, rather than the shop floor.British Industry has hit skid row. Bring back the old days, when bosses worked their way up over several years.

Graduate managers are like the rest of the managers a load of rubbish they do not know anything about efficiency and effectiveness most managers at RM have never work at any other companies (most of the ex-posties that are managers now were postal cadets) and most graduate managers have just come straight from university. Sometimes managers can come up with some incoherent ideas that a real manager would just laugh at, I am not surprise at the situation RM is in, we should have the world's greatest postal system and no one should be able to touch us but because of incompetance and lack of management techiques and strategies our postal system is at it knees and the only way to save it is to take a good look at the management.
