I belive that we can not wait for a national ballot and we need to up the action where we have ballots in place, this is not a dispute about absorbson or savings it is a fundemental attack on the union. At the Wimbledon office where thay have moved them back onto a five day week rather than a four day week (rember this is where CWU HQ is if that is not sticking up two fingers I dont no what is), they have put 18 people on nights with allowences etc, this shows that they are not trying to make savings but just break the will of the staff.
At the Wandsworth office they are proposing to remove 23 walks that is over a quarter of the walks even without knowing the office we can surely assume that it will not work.
They are desperate to create "facts on the ground" so that if there is any kind of talks that lead back to local talks. The local CWU will struggle to return to there previous postion in which to commence any negotiations.
There is an obscene rush to move the four day week offices to a five day week so that any oppitunity to get imagenative attendence patterns is lost.
It is SEPTEMBER we have fought a rearguard action through the summer we now need to force both the CWU' and Royal Mails hand. Whilst we await thenational ballot our terms and conditions are being eroded.
Most of the offices within my area have been put on notice to remove all SA
