Re: Enjoy work
We have thrreads like this one now and again, general feeling is we all enjoy the job, just not who we work for,if you get what i mean.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've done almost 9 years and I still enjoy the job. I just try to tune out all the RM negatives, but it's getting harder.

Re: Enjoy work
I enjoy the job but not the constant hassle I get from the managers, if we were left alone to do our jobs then things would be much better.

Re: Enjoy work
I used to enjoy the fact that after all the crap you could get out of the office and do your own thing on the round, but now even that's been stopped as we get regular spot checks from our DOM's and other local offices to so you are always on edge as they are desperate to sack more of us for the slightest thing. Our rep must spend more hours office bound these days dealling with conducting rather than do his own duty.

Re: Enjoy work
It seems that which office you work in and the delivery model used is a big determiner in whether you'll enjoy your job or not. Some offices are alright, some are ass; there's not much of a uniform role any more.

Re: Enjoy work
when I started the Job was the same whether it was in London, Liverpool, Penzance or John O'Groats, you all started at the same time and finished the same time, thats all changed shortly before SDD came in.
I now try to tune out the backstabbers and thats before I tune out some of the Linos, I just think of the wage packet and the relative freedom I get on Delivery.
Dunno how long this will last before some wizzard at the top comes up with some fantastic scheme to fück your week up, this van sharing is the daftest ever, its not going to work with some of the People I know, there will be argument and fights.

Re: Enjoy work
The one thing that has made this job bearable is the people I've had the pleasure of working with, have made some great friends and sadly lost a few as well RIP boys, many laughs from some great characters over the years

Re: Enjoy work
Like most i still enjoy the job (22 years) and the days / weeks seem to mostly fly by.
Trouble with whats happening now is that the management approach you and its kinda "can you do just a little more" ? and to keep the status quo you say "yeah ok". But then they come back and its "if you could only help us with this little bit and we wont ask you again" so you do it thinking your get left alone to get on with your job. Of course they come back again and again and before you know it your really struggling which just ends up pissing you off.

Re: Enjoy work
Love the job and i get great satisfaction from it.
Just a shame that the place is run by complete clowns who cant see just how much goodwill and customer service is lost by just pushing and pushing us.
Considering we are the ones that deal wholly with the customers, how on earth have the management decided that 3PM deliveries are a good idea; Wait i know, they didnt bother to find out that no customer wants their mail at 3pm.
One word springs to mind; TOOLS
