Working Wounded

(I'd have set this as a poll, but don't quite know how.)

How many of you guys and galls are working wounded (Illness, injury, RSI, wear-and-tear damage and so much more) but are still turning up for work and puting up with the problem, just to keep your sick record alright or to keep from another round of management bully/abuse/general baw-baggery?

Just to get the ball rolling on my own question, I regularly go to work while suffering the effects of a long term stomach complaint. Plus I think I'll be returning to work with with a fukt back shortly too.

Dodgy knees, dodgy back, dodgy left shoulder and I'm only 29. I didn't have any problems before starting at Royal Mail.

dog bite a few weeks ago whilst on delivery, nail partially ripped off my first fnger on right hand. Doctor at hospital told me to take 2 weeks off, called in sick the next day and was asked if I could come in and do light duties instead of being off sick, stupidly thought fair enough, on light ( delivering packets) duties for a whole day then at every turn they kept trying to put me on a delivery. Never again, I got so much grief over it, pulled up at every opportunity for anything that if ever ill or injured again through work will happily take the time off to recover. Royal Mail do not know what light duties are and just take the pure pi%*

Shoulders, back, hips, knees, ankles and feet are all FUBAR, I now can't go to work without a handful of painkillers to start and some during the day just to make it through I really can't see me being able to continue in this job for very much longer

Have been on anti-inflam & painkillers since AOD in January. When they wear off some of my muscles/joints are agony.

Yeah, me too. Dog attacks x 3, muscular/tendon injuries. Worked on to avoid sickness/stage warnings. Last straw recently, unable to walk.
Sod the sickness, I need to FULLY Recover, as "light duties" always turns into, "Can you just do this: a,Pick up postie, b,take mail to larger office, c,sort out D2D's, d,do cutoffs" Answer is usually do ALL THE ABOVE!!!
Aren't managers supposed to put "Dog Warning" cards on frames, ensure Walk Logs completed, give verbal warnings if they are aware of aggressive dogs?!
Thought the H+S acts were supposed to ensure our safety/protection, not theirs...

My left shoulder has been giving me pain for the last month or so as well ,along with my knees (sometimes) and feet first thing in the morning and it will only get worse for all of us the way the walks are now They wont be many 50 to 60 year old posties left in a few years time ,it will be all young 20 year olds rushing around in their own cars :cfo

Back, knees and shoulder, sometimes ankle and foot. Usually the only thing that doesn't ache is my hair.

yep same bad knees,back and i broke my shoulder AC joint a few years back out delivering in the ice [ after a guy had gone round his car windows with a hot kettle to get rid of the ice ] it refroze and i slipped on it
