Surcharge Cards

Anyone noticed a marked increase in the little grey surcharge cards we're delivering ?
Last 2 weeks I've went up from one or two a week to 10 -15 a day. People are getting really sick of " us ripping them off " .
Is this part of a Royal Mail plan to turn public support against us ?

i agree with sherpa.....but what really pees me off is us not charging a fee for unofficial redirections.....i have 3 on my walk getting at least 2 letters a day ......this may not seem like a lot of revenue but add it up throughout the country and its probably a substantial amount of money the business is losing...the amount lost could be the difference of a postie having a 40 hour contract instead of 25 hours

The biggest complaint I get from them (after I explain that I don't have the item) is that they've been fined £1 for being 6p short (i.e. £1.06). If they were just fined £1.06 for incorrect postage then would moan a lot less.

Got it in a nutshell Royal Mail do the deed poor old postie takes the flack!

And why do we return the competitions mail to the sender? Should it not be picked up by the company who brings it to us?

I always tell my customers to find out what it is before they pay as a lot of the time it's junk that they are paying for. I can't beleive RM are asking OAP's for money just to get crap.

Yeah, I deliver to an old peoples home and one person had to "wait until next week, I don't really have enough money left this week."

What always used to make me laugh about these was when you stuck one through a letter box, the occupant of the house would come steaming out of the front door demanding to know why you hadn't knocked on the door. My usual response was to say, "Have you actually read it?" and the normal reply would be, "eh....no, I haven't actually got my glasses on!" Alot of mine actually used to slip the net and I was always to busy to flag it up. I gather a while back (before my time) that posties had to knock and collect the money. Changing from mail weight to size is (and it goes without saying) just another way to confuse and tuck customers up.

How come sometimes mail comes to me with a yellow sticker saying they should pay blah blah as insufficient postage paid?
i just post them, is it when they have had a grey card and just not bothered to go and pay it? so we just end up posting ity for free anyway!

Could be one of 2 things.

1. They have already paid and the callers office has sent it out with the "Postage Paid please deliver" stamp on it.

or.


2. The machines/operators at the MC or the IPS sorters have not passed it on to revenue protection.


The unpaid ones are always RTS at my DO after 28 days of the recipient being carded.

If the surcharge has been paid and the Callers office have sent it out it should be stamped 'Surcharged Paid' with the office name on the stamp. I find a lot of them that come through with the yellow sticker on have'nt been segged to Rev Pro.
