Happy Office UPDATE
Back in the middle of March I started a thread asking if my office was the only one where things didn't seem to be that bad because the office did seem to be a happy place to work and things weren't going that badly. I don't think anyone agreed that their office was still an OK place to work. However, as I am sure most of you would have predicted, my office is now the same as everyone else's, CRAP. All my colleagues are fed up with the decisions that management are making, none of which are an improvement from anyones point of view. The walks have been made bigger, we are starting and getting out later, nights are going, they have given VR to about 10 guys and now we are short of staff, this week we have only managed to take out live mail and mailsort is being left on Yorks, the ineffective and weak management are being given hell by the area managers. The Union appears to be ineffective. Management wanted us to start an hour earlier, the union negotiated and settled on half an hour earlier, the union then thought they had done well, whereas it appears that the management got what THEY wanted. It has been amazing watching it all deteriorate in such a short time. I am now ready for your "told you so" comments.

You'll not get a 'told you so' comment from me mate, sad to hear your office has gone to pot as well
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Not an "I told you so", but rather a "Welcome to Planet Royal Mail">
A happy, efficient office is a big no-no. Good industrial relations, again a big NO, effective management, now you're being silly.

My office was the same until fairly recently.yokel wrote:Back in the middle of March I started a thread asking if my office was the only one where things didn't seem to be that bad because the office did seem to be a happy place to work and things weren't going that badly. What is laughable about all this is that now they've lost all goodwill, they are probably not going to making anything on the cuts and flexibility. Just about everyone is now coming in and starting at 6am. Even those who happen to get in a bit early will go and have a cup of coffee first. I would say about 90% of people who had been using their cars stopped using them. And that was about 60% of the office. There is no cutting corners or anything. What is more, their is a bit of solidarity when everyone is arriving back cutting off at the same time. It is building confidence. So yeah, well done Royal Mail, a calamity on par with these two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNssIhS7ATc
