Miss-delivery cards

Anyone else see this in the scourier this issue? If not, its a card (or piece of paper) that you deliver AFTER you have miss-delivered, if you cant get access to the mail.

Basically it says "Sorry I am a numpty (or words to that effect). Please can you do my job for me and post the miss-delivered items to the correct house, or post it in a postbox or finally slap me around the face with it tomorrow.

Not in use in our office (once again). Just wondered how wide spread the use is. Then again we do not have (or use) pouching off equipment either so it doesn't surprise me.

We had them about 2/3 years ago but we only got 2 each, TBH if I make a mistake I won't know about it until the person comes out and tells me.

I saw those as well but never seen them at the office. I normally write a note and pop it through if i know ive made a mistake so a proper card seems like a good idea to me.

I give them to our new starters when they first go out on a round as they're bound to make the odd mistake until they gain experience.

If I ever misdeliver (or think I have but I'm not quite sure) I just write a note on a P739 and leave that instead apologising if I have misdelivered.

Yeah, this is what I do too. I also often get a comments along the lines of 'thanks for stopping' if I make a mistake then knock to get the letters back.

NB - I've made that sound like I make a lot of mistakes but really, I don't!

We were talking about these today so the office speed merchant decided to ask the DM for some as he makes loads of mistakes but can do any round in two hours and often does 1.5 rounds plus throwing off all the ASAP for his avarage day

The conversation went:

Speedy: 'hey boss can i get some of those ''hey i made a mistake'' cards they had in the courier this month'

DM: 'Sure i will get you some' (then returns with 2 cards)

Speedy: 'Great, thanks. I'll be back in an hour for some more'

We have had them in office for a while but as said before i just write a note and apologise.

Mind, i could do with "sorry i am an utter arse"card.

Years back i was on a rural where there was this farm house in the middle of nowhere,it was a tad run down with a broken window up stairs and the letter box was accessed via a large wooden porch.

I was on this round one week and it had been wet and the door of the porch was swollen and jammed and i could not get to the letter box,there was never anyone around and each day i brought their mail back.
On the Saturday i had the whole weeks bundle with me and again could not get in and there was no one around so i thought " I know,i will lob the mail through the broken window and at least they will have their mail".

This i did and as i walked off it occurred to me that if the window was broken ,then they obviously did not use that room and thus would not find their mail.

I wrote on the P739 card that i had lobbed their mail through their window and slid the card into the crack between the door and the frame and the bloody door popped open.

I then dropped the card through the letter box that said i had lobbed the mail through their upstairs window because i could not put it through their letter box because their porch door was jammed
