Choice of Break Times

Full timer OPGs on 8 hours are entitled to 40 minutes break each day, but is the timing of that 40 minutes entirely your choice or could a DOM make it coincide with a time of his choice when there isn't actually any work to be done on account of everyone waiting for incoming mail to be sorted prior to delivery ?

Your Meal Relief should be in your 318 and set in stone.

Following this if management want to change breaks then they need to renegotiate them via the IR Framework.

As i know it they can make you take 20mins before and you can take the rest at the end this is written into the way forward agreement!. hope this helps you.

As i know it they can make you take 20mins before and you can take the rest at the end this is written into the way forward agreement!. hope this helps you.

Many of us up here don't have 318's anymore some don't even know what they are!.

Yes, I've never seen a 328 and don't know what they are.

your duty should have a 318, within this is your mr time and THAT is what you've signed for.
WE all signed for a particular duty because of it's strart/finish times and when it's mr is, the size of vehicle (if any ) you drive and the shift premuim (if any) it attracts. We all accept that the contents may change, but when the mr takes place, start times, driving allowance, shift premiums are all deciding factors in choosing a duty
i was recently approached on this very subject by a manager and told him i could only agree to his proposed changes if the holder was willing to move their mr. IMHO It is entirely the holders chioce, not the CWU's and certainly not the DOM's

I've never heard anything of this. When getting a full time contract I signed something sent from Chesterfield but I've neither seen nor signed anything locally.

it has nothing to do with chesterfield, just locally. Perhaps its a term we use locally (signed for) but during rolling and full resigns we say you "apply" for vacant duties/sa if you're fortunate enogh to get it you've "signed for it" basiclly it's yours until you vacate it or are "signed out of it" at the next resign

AFAIK 318 are being phased out - they have gone at my DO - and are being replaced by duty logs. The main difference as far as I know is that the 318 is quite specific with regard to timings and the Walk Log only has start and finish times. In my DO you don't have to sign the walk log just the duty when to successfully apply for them.

According to H&S they are meant to be on each and every frame.
