Lapsing a walk

Heard some new bright idea yesterday.
In the summer they want us to take a 5th of a walk out to make our hours up.Its really easy in the summer,we always make about 2 hours.... not really.
Sometimes it is light but still maybe takes me 3 hours 15.A 5th of an average walk is going to take me 40 mins.
So can they make us go out for this length of time.I sometimes end up doing 4 hours now on a busy day if it means not going over finish time.
But 4 hours every day through summer is going to kill me.Can they say send us out for 40 mins,come back and have break and then go out again for 3.15+
Seems since we signed this flexability agreement we've been continually flogged.

They've got to get you out to the start and get you back to the office. If you use a bike or you have to wait for them to get you dropped off, you won't be doing much more than exactly what your duty is right now.

Just say you'll do some if you have any time when you get back from your own delivery. Any one with a bit of sense will not get back until finishing time therefore wont take any. Any one without any sense will rush round and be expected to take some on coming back before finishing time. I'll let you decide which one you are but i would advise the first one.

If you are not being paid you are possibly not insured
The 3.5 hr dely span is not a target the business must try to achieve but one that you must be able to complete you dely in.
even if you finish half hour early they still got to get you out there and back, thats your 30 mins gone.

When we had our huddle yesterday we were told the gaps in our frames will be counted and we will take that amount of drops off a neighbouring walk

Will take them ages to count 100+ walks everyday

the're going to count the doors you aren't going to?
so for example on my walk being all stairs they would class it takes the same time to deliver to a lapsed door as one in a stair im in anyway?

Apparently. That would make it 100% call rate then would'nt it?

Just work at a sensible and safe speed and work to your time. You can't do anything more or less than that.

which needs to checked against the pegasus review if you have been subjected to that as in our office we had 83% to 86% call rate planned in (sorry can't remember the exact amount). As unless they planned you at 100% + travelling to lapsed duty then to primary duty and back to DO you will go over and they can't force you.

If you have a gap take a letter from adjacent slot,put it in the gap,sorry boss my walk is mega today can't see me being able to help lol

Its not that i wont be able to do an extra 100 houses or so but i am going to feel knackered every single day.Its going to be like a bad day all summer long.
Is 3.5 just a guide or is it there for our health and safety.I feel i'm being pushed to do 4 hours plus because i am making time due to less prep.But its gonna really make my feet ache.
I know we can't just sit on the frames waiting an hour and half for missorts but is lapsing walks a good answer.

Both posts above are spot on.You only have to take whatever % geo route based the walks on ie 86%.And yeah,disguise those gaps :)

This is what really p*sses me off. We moved to later start times and complained about the heat of the sun at lunchtime during the summer. How did they react? By lapsing duties!!!! Not only does our bags feel just as heavy as the so called busier other seasons but we have to deliver them in the blazing sun. Incredible the genius who thought that one up. Probably thought along the lines of posties dropping from sunstroke, wont need a savings plan then

yes but they did send out that health sheet about trying to stay out of the sun

and plan your delivery so that you spend more time in the shade

Umm you have us out at each side of midday when the sun is at its highest and the shade at its lowest.

Here we have to lap 2 walk for 12 weeks in the summer months its a right pain it add about 30 min on to each duty and we have to take the extra mail with us. Its all about royal mail getting you to work the 40 hours you get paid for. royal mail does not take into account the 30 min you might come in early to statr getting your walk ready. we as postman need to start sticking together and taking our full break in the day befor we go out and no coming in early and if some one goes sick now we have to laps that walk as we have no spare staff what will royal mail come up with next.
we have just had a review off all the route and i dont hink any duty is now under 4 hours. lol .

royal mail are not getting any new staff every time a full time leaves we get a part time person so we know have less people on ispl in the morning.

we should have never take then £200 pound pay and mod agreement we got sold right down the river and where our pay rise for this year.
