New Guy Abuse Question

I have been sent to a new office for the last 8 weeks . In this time I have really enjoyed my time . This week I started a new driving duty that was new to me .

The guy whos duty it was gave me a list of the drop bags and the order they are to be done . Today I suffered abuse from a guy waiting on his bag .

I get a call stating this guy is waiting . I drive to him immediatelly . As soon as I arrive i knew he wasnt happy .

I approach him and tell him not to start moaning as i have an order in how to do the bags . I said it politely . He then raises his voice when telling me that the F***ING order better be sorted as he wasnt going to stand about looking like a PR**K again . I then tell him ive only been on the duty for 3 days and not up to speed ( even though it was only 9.45 and he wasnt due the bag until after 10am which i only found out later ) He then points out that I had F***ING well been out the office for over 2 hours so why the F*** was he still waiting .

At this point I told him to not go there ........ waited on a reply ......... then left .

I told some of the other drivers when i returned and they told me to report him to the managers .

What would you do and how would you have responded to this idiot ???

You are not there to take abuse from some little jumped up postie,tomorrow do his bags last if he picks a argument then go and see a manager about it,don't let him think he's got the right to push you about or be rude,if he thinks he can do better then let him try.

idd, though theres a chance he probably treats everyone like s**t/and people put up with it -you never know. i dislike my driver, he starts swearing his head off not in a jokey way either, and finally tells me hes not taking the packet out because hes already done that area or he doesnt want to go there for w/e reason when i give him an oversized packet which would be bigger than the size of the pouch. in other words he wont take anything out for me so he can finish early.

I would do everything I could to keep managers out of it though.

First thing that I would be checking is at what time did he actually commence work at, against what time he is officially supposed to start work per his 318 and if there is a difference in time say between 10 - 45 mins or more. politely point out to the cretin that if he stopped coming in earlier and commencing work before his official start time and actually started working his contracted hours then in all probability there would be no need for him or any other of his colleagues who follow suit to be hanging around at all.

And being me I would also be telling him that if he ever addresses me disrespectfully again then he will find that he will be hanging around or standing about a lot longer. Tell the cretin that if he has got a problem then take it to management.

see if he is the same tomorrow ,regardless if he came in early /late he is well out of order .if you are able to see him at work in the depot ask him why he was behaving like that and could he stop ,in front of witnesses if possible.if he continues then you are really left no alternative but to pursue it further.hopefully by confronting him he will have the decency to stop(it might of been a one off incident) ask him would HE find it acceptable if you gave him a verbal tirade.

People like him are 1 of the reasons i went back to doing a walk....not everyone can have there bags exactly when they want them...dont they realise (and here is a good excuse for getting his bags late tomorrow) that you were stuck in traffic

Every office has one of these morons, i know mine has. I had a running with one of these sorts a while back and in the end i had a word with our CWU rep and got him to act BEFORE i sited an harassment case against him. The quite word in the ear worked and although i am not on his christmas card list the abuse stopped. Best of luck dont let these tosser get on top of you.
