Transfering

Can anyone let me know how you go about transfering to another office which is more local

Firstly ask the dim at the office you want to move to if there are any vacancies....if there are then speak to your dim and get an official transfer request form...fill it in and let the human resource people do what ever they do for the transfer to take place.....this can actually be a long drawn out process so do it as soon as possible

Mate at my DO asked 6 weeks ago and is moving for a FT position at the end of the week. Check out the DO where your going to see how well managed it is and whether or not the CWU is active or not. Usually these are good indications of whether a quick transfer is possible or not.

in my do a guy transfered in from a 40 hr job and told not enough hours in this office to give you the same xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

Hi Jumper, I have just transferred to an office nearer my home. Firstly, RM rules say that you have to have served at least a year before you can transfer and after you have transferred you may not move again ( transfer) until you have been at the new office for at least a year. There is a way around this which is called the ECR system (something like Employee Change Request) to use this system both DOMs must agree to the request. They talk to each other by Email and it can be done quickly. As others have said the way forward for now is to find a vacancy by meeting with the DOM at the office you wish to go to and go from there. You should also register on the RM website for email alerts when vacancies occur so you will know when there is a vacancy. Good luck.

hi can any one help me im a full time postwoman in northern ireland but over at home in carlisle with my poorley daughter that needs long time care over at newcastle rvi with her health im currently on maternity leave with my new son but wont be returning to ireland for a few years thats if we ever go back i would like to return back to work in march but need a transfer around the surronding d.o but need child friendly hours can they refuse me any thing an what if there is no jobs when im ready to return where do i stand with royal mail i have 5yrs service an on 40hrs i would be greatful for any advice thanks sharon

hi im looking to transfer to wigan area spoke to chorley dom they got no vacancies. still waiting for wigan dom to get back in touch. anybody any other suggestions of offices in that area
also what are my chances of staying on 40 hours as my dom has said will probley have to drop down to part time to transfer an have been told wigan have 25 hour duties any advice would be great
also would go back on distribution as thats what ive done mostly in royal mail but have heard offices are closing in this area is this true as dont suppose there will be vacancies if theres closures due soon

register on the royal mail website "work for us" I have just done a quick check and see that there are jobs in North Manchester for example. You register and they email you when there are vacancies in the area you are interested in. Good luck.

I wouldn't give up quite that easily but you obviously have to PERSUADE a manager at the offices that you are interested in, to consider you. You should try and arrange a meeting with them either by writing or emailing them pointing out your good points such as a very low sick and lateness record. Most of the large offices have a high turnover of staff and hopefully your request coincides with a vacancy. If the office you are interested in is within the region you are at now the DOMs will all know each other so you should try and persuade your present DOM to talk to the DOM at the office where you would like to go.

I guess you have to ask yourself if you were a DOM would you take a chance on this person. I don't think (but don't know) if even if recruitment had agreed that you could transfer, that your proposed new DOM HAS to accept you. I imagine they can say no thank you to anyone with a bad sick record.

You should check if there is other delivery office very nearby to the location you want to move. It might not be perfect but it could be the solution.

ive just submited a transfer request form you cant transfer with a bad sick record your manager will reject it
try when the 5 months is up

any one know if theres any vacancies at wigan office an what are the walks like have you had pegasus revision?

If you are full time and want to transfer as a full timer, forget it!! I put in for a transfer 2 years ago and am still waiting. I spoke to the DOM at the office I wanted to transfer too and he said that he had about 15 P/T staff who were more senior than me, waiting to be made up to F/T and basically I will only get a transfer if I go back to P/T. As many people, I cant afford to go P/T so I guess I am stuck where I am with an hour commute every day.
