Face to face meeting after being off sick for a week?
In October I had 2 weeks off for flu, unfortunately I have flu symptoms again, I went to the doctors as I thought might be chest infection, they confirmed it was flu and that I should stay home to recover. After 4 days off sick my manager has said I need to come in for a face to face interview in a couple of days time even tho I have stated that I am unwell and can’t come in. He has said that it is policy and I cannot refuse. He also said he can come visit me at my home if I prefer. What should I do, is he going against procedure?

Do you have a union rep at your delivery office?St1983 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026, 14:04In October I had 2 weeks off for flu, unfortunately I have flu symptoms again, I went to the doctors as I thought might be chest infection, they confirmed it was flu and that I should stay home to recover. Let him come and get flu if that is really what he wants to do.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Just for context, I'm currently off sick coming up 9 weeks now. Not been asked to attend interview. I get a phone call every few weeks from managing for an update but that's all.

Agree to him coming to your house as that will cover all bases but remember, You are also allowed a union rep or work colleague to accompany you at this face to face.
You can bet your last dollar that he won't want to come along when he has to release another body to accompany you.

I'm sure they can have a face to face meeting with you either at your home, in the office, or anywhere that is mutually agreeable. It's likely just an informal meeting anywhere, but if formal they would specifically have to write to you giving notice and stating your rights to be accompanied by a reputable or anyone of your choosing.
That aside, you've got the flu again after only just having it not that long ago? Most people will say they have the flu or flu-like symptoms when actually all they have is a common cold.

You must be a Manager impersonating a Doctor.raXor wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026, 18:47I'm sure they can have a face to face meeting with you either at your home, in the office, or anywhere that is mutually agreeable. Lots of them at RM, they can diagnose from 40 miles away after having a two minute conversation!
Remarkable!!!

It sounds like they don’t believe your reason for absence. Have you been off sick frequently? Did you provide a sick note from the doctor?St1983 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026, 14:04In October I had 2 weeks off for flu, unfortunately I have flu symptoms again, I went to the doctors as I thought might be chest infection, they confirmed it was flu and that I should stay home to recover. Re: Face to face meeting after being off sick for a week?
I was off sick about 3 month ago for around 2 weeks. This time I had chest pains and bad cough and shortness of breath so thought maybe I had chest infection so went to doctors who said I had flu/covid. I did provide sick note on my last absence. This is my second absence in 12 month.Barnacle wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026, 21:50It sounds like they don’t believe your reason for absence. Have you been off sick frequently? So I shouldn’t refuse a face to face then? But I can request for someone to be at this meeting with me even if I request it to be at my home?

Re: Face to face meeting after being off sick for a week?
I don't think there's any reason to refuse a face to face meeting. Why would there be? It should only be a supportive chat anyway. You are always entitled to be accompanied at any meeting regardless of where it's held and no manager has any reason to have a problem with that. Have the meeting at your home and tell them you're recording it on your phone. You're allowed to do this in your own house.St1983 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026, 14:04I was off sick about 3 month ago for around 2 weeks.
