Ok as far as I am aware we are still waiting for a date to be set for strike action. So I read this article about the strike actions and a lot of it rang true to me.

So what do you think, is Dave Ward and Terry purposely trying to weaken our position? They have a massive mandate for strike action so why have they not set a strike date to put pressure on RM?

When are these two up for election, they need to be kicked out tbh, after the last deal they negotiated along with the current action they are dithering about with, it's clear they are both useless at their job tbh.

If we go on strike now it will hinder the current postal ballot.

CWU have to give 14 days notice and they won't want to disrupt the return of ballots for the second vote (which
closes on 17/8 IIRC) as disruption of the return could encourage RM to make a legal challenge to its validity,
so even if an announcement was made tomorrow the earliest date they would want to identify
for IA based on the first ballot would be 18/8. IMHO they'll wait for the result of the second ballot and then
make an announcement.

The problem is the longer we leave it gives Royal Mail time to make other arrangements on the strike dates,time to get agency workers in etc we are helping them out the longer we leave it

In tbe short term I guess there's nothing to do but stand firm and keep the faith until the Ballot result on the 17th.

Then we'll get more idea of the Union hierarchy's intent and stomach for a fight.

Looks to me like Royal Mail are making changes by executive decision, whilst the union remains impotent due to its rigid processes ie waiting for a ballot result, which has bought time for the RM hierarchy to jump in and do what they want, which is happening. By the time the CWU announces anything too much water will have already flowed under the proverbial bridge, and the damage will be done. Our union rep is pathetic by his absence and the CWU leave a lot to be desired by their silence, whilst all falls around them. They have played into RM's hands, and once again RM have been one step ahead of the CWU!!

By 'their rigid processes' do you mean anti trade union laws?
