Life as a Postie.

Post by norris9 »

Being a Postie.

Do the job correctly:

Do all deads, do all Van Checks, don't look at mail while walking, take a trolley, scan every item, don't door step, etc etc etc...

Either leave post behind so you can finish on time or you come back late, book overtime....... > Manager: PERFORMANCE ISSUE! - YOU ARE TOO SLOW OR NOT TAKING ENOUGH POST!

Do the job incorrectly - take shortcuts:

Skip the odd house here and there, door step, don't do van checks....... > Manager: DISCIPLINARY! POSSIBLE SACKING!

What do managers actually want us to do? It feels to me like they want us to take shortcuts, but simply cannot say it and have to punish us if we do.

It's lose - lose unless you are in a delivery office where the rounds are actually fair and managers are reasonable.

navigate the safest path towards your destination, take account of headwinds, choppy sea's and the possibility of pirates and spies en route, it will not be easy my friend, but you will reap a great reward, having a job !!!! (bulshit)

If they say they have an issue with your outdoor performance, ask them to come on the round with you and give you pointers for how to improve your performance

They wont.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
