Did you not ask for a chance to try it first? If i'm not mistaken once you sign for a duty you can't sign for another until a year has passed. You can give it up, but you will be a reserve then until the year is up.

As a reserve then isn't it possible that you might end up being put straight back on that duty anyway?

Correct but usually there's other duties needs covered that others don't want to do so it's a game of musical chairs. In my place, you can simply tell either the booking officer/DOM that you want to sign off that duty. It gets re-advertised but you lose any perks such as a rotating day off etc.

I,m a collections driver not for everyone, if your a postie like I was u will miss the customers, sometimes u get to the firms & the post isn’t ready, if the collection before us at the post office never arrived then u have double work,. management track your every move if a box or barcode doesn’t scan they send u back out, they sent me back to a prison once because the barcode didn’t scan.
Positive your not carrying the weight which is good for your body, u work on your own, so like every job there are pos & cons
