RMCtv : Signing in signing out : Due in DO's in the new financial year
Zareena 'People are my thing' Brown : Chief People Officer
SISO has been successfully deployed in mail centers, regional distribution centers and parcel hubs in line with our national agreement with The CWU.
Now there are many benefits to SISO the system replaces the current paper sign in sheets, and it brings us into the modern digital age by electronically recording time, and attendance.
Now we're starting to prepare deployment of SISO in delivery for the new financial year, and we'll deploy across delivery offices in line with our pathway to change agreement.
The proposal for the SISO system for delivery has been developed over the last few months as we wanted to make sure that we got the functionality right for delivery offices and provided the right solution.
Now our agreements with the unions don't allow us to link directly to pay. however, there is a robust hr process that already exists and is usable by managers to address late attendance and early clock counts. now the automation of signing in and out makes it easier to identify any issues.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Of interest will be how they intend to implement signing out for those of us doing LAT and rural, who are out past locking up time.
Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

You are the grey areas in which the screws will play around

This can be a nail to the coffin for the royal mail. Imagine it deducts your pay as you leave early but does not actually pay you any extra if you come in 15-20min earlier. Imagine people working to the letter and no early starters or runners, amount undelivered stuff especially during busier periods will be gigantic. They must be careful, this company relies still heavily on people's good will, overtime and unfortunately people working for free.

A bit sexist - won't the female colleagues need to do it?

Or it'll probably be some barcode on our foreheads we'll scan with our PDAs when we sign in and out.

I was thinking that too Sundodger... im hardly ever back by 2pm on a saturday, and often its well past locking up time a few days in the week too. Maybe some form of magnetic strip reader external, in the loading bay area or something with an LED that can blink/sound to register the scan?

That is straight forward, the van is parked up in the staff car park along with others that cannot be parked up in the yard that return in the afternoon and the PDA's are posted through the secure door.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑14 Feb 2022, 21:37What do you do with the PDAs if the DO is locked up when you arrive back and what do you do with the vans?

I hope it is not an open system, and gets hacked. But I have been told off already as I came in 7 mins late, and I left 5 minutes early, then the manager said 5+7= 12 minutes lost. I set my phone to ring at 2 minutes after I start so I have a minute to start.
Many workers we finish early just stand next to the card scanner for a few minutes.

Is there any recessed area outside that would be totally shielded from any rain, sleet, hail or snow?Sundodger wrote: ↑14 Feb 2022, 22:47That is straight forward, the van is parked up in the staff car park along with others that cannot be parked up in the yard that return in the afternoon and the PDA's are posted through the secure door.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑14 Feb 2022, 21:37What do you do with the PDAs if the DO is locked up when you arrive back and what do you do with the vans?

Why would a recessed area be needed if PDA and van keys are posted through the secure door at the DO.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Feb 2022, 07:06Is there any recessed area outside that would be totally shielded from any rain, sleet, hail or snow?Sundodger wrote: ↑14 Feb 2022, 22:47That is straight forward, the van is parked up in the staff car park along with others that cannot be parked up in the yard that return in the afternoon and the PDA's are posted through the secure door.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑14 Feb 2022, 21:37What do you do with the PDAs if the DO is locked up when you arrive back and what do you do with the vans?
The only thing left in rear of the van are any undelivered items - then you just leave a note , indicating van number and how many with the keys.
Some DO's I have worked at even have a special Key safe you have to have a code to open or even an old post box, you leave van keys in, with the PDA left in the van.
I appreciated these procedures would need to be different at each DO to suit the environment where they are located, but the DO's I have worked at tend to be on industrial estates
Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

[Now our agreements with the unions don't allow us to link directly to pay.]
Not for now! Make no mistake though, it will become one of those "bargaining points" in one of the future pay negotiations, just as other add ons have been removed over the years in return for a certain %age increase in basic. They are not investing in this project without (eventually) getting the desired return.
