Yeah I remember about 4 or 5 years ago we got Sat 27 Dec off as an extras day holiday, they didn't even take it out of our holiday allowance!

No, I don't want to use my holiday entitlement. It's hard enough getting your holidays booked without them telling us that we have to keep back a day for 27/12. I'll be a pain in the **** and work it. If I'm the only one, well so be it, I'm sure my DOM will come in, open up, do some IPS and get me out the door, oh and wait until I get back. Now if they want to give me the day off, that's a different story. :nana

We'd all like the extra day at Christmas, but let's not cut our own throats, especially when RM are so eager to do it for us. If we don't benefit then it is a big NO from me.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I wouldn't get too excited, how can they give us one particular Saturday off whenever they can't (or won't) change the Easter holiday from Friday to Saturday.

As other people have mentioned about 5 years ago we had sat 27th dec off. However to get this day off you had to work for nothing your Saturday hours leading up to Christmas. So if you do a 7 hour Saturday duty you'll have to work an extra 7 hours over Christmas pressure for no overtime. So you're still having to work for that day off. I feel this is a small price to pay for a nice little Christmas break. Especially as our local area has stopped annual leave the week commencing the 29th Dec. BASATARDS not a very family friendly company.
