35 hour week. No.
Culture change. No.
Revision @ Derby DO. No.
Promised office wide re-pick @ Derby DO. No.
& now a new push on quality of service.
Wonder how that’ll go.
No more “Take lapsing out & bring your own job back.”
Yeah. Sure, George.
Absolute shambles of a company.
& a union incapable of holding them to account.

We’ll get a 35hr week and it will be over 4 days

The USO will be scrapped and we’ll only deliver Tuesday > Friday on duties with a 6.30 > 7 hour span :dance

Once your body can’t take anymore walking you’ll be put on a dedicated Saturday > Monday parcel duty delivering until 11pm on just under a 12hr shift because that’s the future :nana

Thanks Tel :thumbup

If the USO gets scrapped then I can see letters being a 3 day turn around with sequencing and prep being done during the daytime by some for a whole shift. Sequencing currently gets done overnight

I think it's inevitable in the next few years that the 6 day letters will go.
It's what they have you doing on the days when no letters go out that should be a big concern.

3 days in office A delivering letters, 3 days in office B delivering letters, reduce workforce by 50%

We've had a revision, one of the stipulations was to force it in and THEN we dropped to 37, no say in the matter.

What is dropping to 36 going to cost, and 35? I dont understand how the CWU see this as a victory when we were already promised the drop in hours, no catches, over a number of years. The office is a shambles, morale is very low and people just cut off, even if it is 1 bundle.

Agree with what you're saying Wookie, but there were 'catches' vaguely referred to in the 4P agreement which meant literally anything and guess what - the pay rise agreement was voted through

Four Pillars Agreement:
In the context of our shared vision to achieve the 35 hour working week it is agreed our joint commitment is that
this will be completed by 2022, and before that date where further reductions are agreed in connection with
technological and operation change
and pay reviews.
The aim is to achieve the remainder through financial measures enabled by technological developments,
operational efficiencies, methods changes
and (where necessary) the annual pay review. We will jointly assess
whether sufficient progress is being made and put all efforts towards ensuring the above measures enable a
reduction in the working week to that timetable.

From what I've seen in the past 6 months the idea of letters 6 days a week is well out the window. RDC's regularly spend weeks covering duties of people off sick (or in some cases, people who've quit/retired and just not been replaced,) and the duties they're covering go undelivered for the day.

Except, of course, for the affluent rural routes, which always seem to get a better service than the flats/terraces

In the pay thread Martin Walsh posted this...

The unions policy for the April Pay Rise is the following :

1. A pay rise of inflation or above.

2. 35 hour gross working week without loss to pay meaning the final 2 hours off the working week.

3. An increase in overtime rates.

4. A commitment to more 3,4 day working.

Of course no pay increase comes without strings and that is going to be the negotiation!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yeah, when you have those at the top stating that covid can no longer be used as an excuse for a non 6 day service, yet it still continues, then there is something wrong.
I can't remember the last time I came back in from a day off to a cleared frame and I'm far from alone in our office.
I don't buy into the often spoke mantra on here of 'just work your hours' when the union are standing by and watching many staff having what should be 7-8 days mail and non tracked being condensed into 4 days. 'Quieter' days of the week are now been used at 'catch up' days or 'just leave it til tomorrow' days.
Yet WE are constantly reminded about quality of service.
