My partner was doing his delivery one day last week plus some of mine as it was my day off and they thought so and so was covering me but it turns out he was off too! anyway basically the van was damaged (headlight smashed/dented wing/side bumper) whilst he was not driving it - parked up whilst he was doing some loops/parcels but yep you've guessed it the DIM doesn't believe him and has took him off driving - to be fair he took himself off driving once this happened just in case anything else happened with this cloud hanging over him and he's said to me he's thinking of ditching driving completely due to the grief he's getting like a couple of lads have done in the past.
He did admit and holds his hands up to not reporting it properly - he just filled in a a fault sheet for the van and thought it would just be repaired BUT amazingly someone took the same van out the next day as it's still drivable but not roadworthy.
Dim said he thinks it has the hallmarks of a rollaway because that box in the van (one with the lights on) shows a movement between x and y address without any power on in the van or something
Dim also said the workshop are refused to fix it as the body damage is too severe - it hasn't moved from our yard since it happened (apart from whoever used it the day after) so they must have come out to see it
He's a good lad, been there a number of years and is a bit stressed over all this, I've been doing the driving obviously since.
Any words of wisdom to pass on? I said try not to worry about it but it's easier said than done i suppose.
