MANAGER THREATS

Post by monkeybuisness »

Hi, can someone give me some advice, we currently have a DOM that is phoning people up who are on sick leave ( even people who have produced a sick note ) and threating to cancel their sick leave if they don't return to work, surely he can't do this ??

Whats your rep(s) doing about it? Let me guess not alot?

All abscences are supposed to be regarded as genuine, your Dom can stop somebody's pay but only with good enough cause, and only after writing to you to say he's stopping somebody's pay, not ringing them up to bully and harass them, also if he does stop somebodys pay it will be an illegal deduction and liable for a claim in the tribunal system.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Notifying absence and
maintaining contact

• Employees will advise of their absence
before the commencement of their
attendance in accordance with the
arrangements set out for their office
• Discussion will cover the reason for
absence, likely duration and anticipated
return date and any support which Royal
Mail may be able to offer
• The employee and their manager should
seek to agree an appropriate time and
date for reviewing together all but very
short absences
• Employees need to provide a self certificate
for the first 7 days of absence and a medical
certificate for any absence over 7 days
• The aim of maintaining contact during an
absence is to encourage an early return
to work wherever possible
• In the rare event that contact is not
maintained following the expiry of a ‘Fit Note’,
he or she will be given two days’ written
notice before any suspension of sick pay.

NATIONAL ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE

Get your rep, area rep on the case.
Inform your manager about the National Agreement and the contact strategy that he is breaking.
If it carries on get everyone involved to put in a grievance.
Or contact The Boss, but remember he gets thousands of emails a week ( His own words) simon.d.thompson@royalmail.com
PM me his phone number and I'll...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
