Hi can anyone tell what action I'm likely to face as reversed into a lamp post today in a hire van put bad in two bad dents in back doors just so have a bit of a heads up if anyone had a knock In a van. Ta

Bad news re Hire Van as i worked for rental company prior to Royal Mail
Thet send it to expensive repair places-assuming it repaired at all re usage as this time of year outweighs damage !!
Do both doors open ok and work/lock etc ??
There is high excess on rental vehicles so Company will be charged maximum amount
Doubt you be taken off the driving as nobody else involved and Again your depot can not afford to remove you at this time of year !!
Assume you reported it to your Line Manager ??
Just an Accident Been hundreds like this over the years

Yeh doors open but fair dents im justed surprised sensore didnt go off ? Just rushing as on oversize duties yeh told dom normal reaction from them . I know one wont be rushing anymore if they don't like I'll go back on my round

I did same thing last year in a rental van. Exactly the same thing. I was taken off driving for 2 weeks and had to watch a video. I think what made it more in my favour though was Christmas pressure and they were short on parcel drivers. Good luck.

just own up to it, it will be far worse if you dont and get caught out.

It's not a sackable offence to knock a post. Accidents happen, as long as you're good. Just state you felt rushed and under pressure from management causing you to make a mistake. Which let's be fair is the truth. The only reason management will care is if they get abuse from above or they're narcissistic rats.

I did similar in a hire van, I wondered why the sensors weren’t beeping as I was reversing closer to the wall then bang! Fortunately I was going at a ridiculously slow speed and there wasn’t even a scratch. Turns out that particular hire van didn’t have reverse sensors - a note in the van to state this would’ve been really useful.

Hopefully you just have to watch a video and promise not to do it again.

Should be taken off driving until u do the driver training again (going around the block with the AA Trainer instructor again). Trying to remember back to when I hit something (my fault).....there should be a fact finding meeting to establish what happened. A series to boring questions that even the dom said was a waste of time but it had to be done. But they never took me off driving and it was months later before i did my Driving Training again. This was probably nearly a decade ago.

These things happen up & down the country all the time so nothing to worry about. The dom is going to cry cos its messed up his budget.

I know a guy who has been on the Driver Training thing a good few times. In fact twice this year. Another guy damaged a new hire beyond repair. Both were off the driving until they went out with the AA Instructor which was within a week.

Like I said its done, cant be undone, dont worry about.
