So when is the christmas the peak then?

Post by Edward Hunter »

At the moment an office near us has ditched the mini yorks for packets for deliveries and is using full sized ones! Its mental. Loads of D2D, not a chance you can do the duty in your normal hours. Its relentless and they know its going to get worse

It's anyone's guess atm. I think it's going to come down to if we end up back in a full blown lockdown.

The workload is probably going to jump now with the mask mandate as it might put people off from going to the shops for any non-food shopping

Not surprised when you've got various Black Friday sales, I believe this coming Monday is Cyber Monday so when more packets in the system

I was shocked by the low amount of box mail in the system this weekend. Maybe this will be the year Christmas cards actually do drop.

This is the time of year when senior management go very quiet and stay out of it, not wanting to upset posties in any way as they know that this approach always works in order to get Xmas done. No worries about o/t, PDA actuals, failures, etc.

Come January 2nd though......back with a bang.

Letters on the face up table were down about 23% in my mail centre last christmas compared on 2019. Massive difference for one year

haven't seen a mini york for three years or more, all taken off site, usually have full york for each shared walk, and a gradual transition to bigger vans. more and more tracked, customer collections, d2d, photo on doorstep, return of post box collections, pda van checks, "buddy trays" and manual sorters on a shorter week. speaks for itself. happy christmas.

Packet sorting if your office has the room….saves breaking down drop bag fittings

Letters are not important we will leave them and get packets done worked to my time yesterday with hardly any letters its not to hard to carry over a row of letters on each walk. The busy time is now and it will not stop.

When do you get around to the letters though if you only have time to clear parcels every day? After a couple of days the frame will be rammed.
