prioritising tracked bullshit
I once asked management why tracked items were prioritised as the customer is paying for safety not speed. I knew the answer but was deliberately stirring it (tracked is easily measured so can "reflect" an office's performance (bonus related!)). I didn't get an adequate answer. Shame when some little kid gets no birthday cards but someone else gets their piece of ebay shite.

Re: prioritising tracked bullshit
Im finding that most days 20% + of my tracked items are extra large Moonpig Cards and Moonpig gift boxes etc, so some celebration/occasion stuff is getting delivered.deristrong wrote: ↑18 Nov 2021, 18:08I once asked management why tracked items were prioritised as the customer is paying for safety not speed. Re: prioritising tracked bullshit
I recently on two occasions delivered toilet rolls that were tracked, but left first class packets, letters and signed for as directed to by the DOM. If someone had an urgent need for loo roll they could get it from a local shop. It is insane how these items are now treated like Special deliveries!

Re: prioritising tracked bullshit
Highlights recently have been a mop and a hair brush - both just wrapped in black plastic so it was obvious what they were. Those two items are far important than all those hospital letters.

All to give a false impression of what's actually happening

Doesnt help the recipients are being texted when the tracked are scanned into the office stating they will be delivered that day between x and y time
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: prioritising tracked bullshit
What's even more annoying is that I, the Postie, doesn't even know what the quoted time slot is! And then we have managers saying that a certain amount were delivered LATE, because it was after the time slot!Acca Dacca wrote: ↑18 Nov 2021, 21:13Doesnt help the recipients are being texted when the tracked are scanned into the office stating they will be delivered that day between x and y time
It's a joke really.

The DOM once told me the office was Inefficient (because we were regularly failing to process Tracked items), "And how does that effect me, will I be getting an efficency bonus if I track everything"? I asked.
After he'd explained that I wouldn't I just asked him why he was bothering me then.

Both Tracked and SDs are trackable all the way so whichever office one of them is last scanned at, the DOM/MCM will probably get an earful from higher up about any failure

I think we realise how the Tracked/SD system works SP. We're just making the point that as they're the only things the Business can accurately "See" as they're moving about the country, they use them to judge how well DOs, and more importantly their Managers, are working.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑19 Nov 2021, 14:59Both Tracked and SDs are trackable all the way so whichever office one of them is last scanned at, the DOM/MCM will probably get an earful from higher up about any failure

Re: prioritising tracked bullshit
As more and more MCs get PSMs over time, then they'll also be able to track many parcels through the system. Bet it's only a matter of time before RM have anything with a barcode scanned as having arrived at the DODorset Plodder wrote: ↑19 Nov 2021, 15:19I think we realise how the Tracked/SD system works SP. I admit to being somewhat paranoid about the RM Big Brother CultureSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑19 Nov 2021, 15:27As more and more MCs get PSMs over time, then they'll also be able to track many parcels through the system. I'd like to imagine a map on the laptop with a series of markers where I've scanned an item, throughout the delivery, supporting my constant argument that my dutie's too big and avoiding those sly looks from the DOM whose convinced I'm just trying it on.
