RM Communications : National Stress Awareness Day
No mention of work related stress!
RM Communications
You start off like any normal day. But there it is, creeping in - your stress levels naturally spike: running late for an appointment, family commitments, a child falling ill, a pre-Christmas blow out buying gifts...
For some, stress is just another necessity to manage – but life goes on. However, there might come a point when the way you’ve been managing stress just isn’t working anymore.
‘The one thing you must remember is to never leave stress unchecked,’ says health and wellbeing manager, Dan Clarke. ‘Stress can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, emotional exhaustion and physical illness. It can affect our work, relationships, families, finances – every aspect of our lives.
‘You may never have needed to think about it before – but why not take a moment to think about your wellbeing as part of this year’s National Stress Awareness Day.’
‘Many of us may be unaware how stress is affecting us and, for some, short periods of increased pressure can help us thrive. It’s only when you stop and re-evaluate that you get a better sense the impact prolonged stress is starting to have.’
Addressing stress doesn’t need to be a life-changing overhaul. There are simple ways to help you manage:
Talk to someone - Stress can sometimes cloud your judgement. Talking things over with a friend, colleague, or a trained professional can release built-up tension and help find solutions. Use the First Class support service or ask your manager to complete the ‘Guided Conversation’ for stress.
Seek help with finances - Money problems and poor mental health are sometimes linked, so it’s important to do what you can to feel better if you’re worrying financially. Do not suffer alone - utilise professional help.
Socialise - Having conversations and spending time with friends and family can help. Activities are beneficial too – go for a walk, swim or visit an exhibition.
Exercise – Activity is a powerful tool in decreasing stress and maintaining a positive attitude to life.
Better sleep - Lack of sleep can cause stress or make it worse. If you’re having trouble sleeping, please speak to a health professional or your GP.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Ha Ha Bloody Ha Ha
I just had to check this out when I saw the topic .... Oh the Crushing Irony of it all !
I take it this Dan Clarke is actually paid by RM to see how far they can push everyone. They could bring in a board of experts and use RM as a case study of how so many people can get so stressed out with what is basically a fairly stress free job (or used to be).... People used to come from High Stress jobs and "Escape" to the relaxed job of Postie..... No bloody more!
There is anotyher simple way to help you manage;
Tell your Manager you have no intention of working ANY overtime, and you'll be finishing bang on your time.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: RM Communications : National Stress Awareness Day
A manager once asked me if everything was alright at home. I had to point out that there were no issues at home, my problems were entirely work-related and therefore squarely emanating from his domain.
The machine stops.

A while back...
POSTIE
Having experienced this B&H personally personally and submitted an appeal with no response with the bullying continuing, this needs to be addressed urgently.
What needs to stop is that Bullying Managers are simply transferred with no action taken against them!
I’m sure Simon Thompson inherited this from the “old guard” and is bringing in a positive culture. However, this culture change which is needed is just as important and needs to be addressed urgently.
This will do more to instill confidence in the workforce than any other single item.
Let’s have a campaign like the dog safety campaign as Employees are in more danger to their mental health from Bullying Managers than dogs. Stop defending and providing excuses for Bullying Managers and put them on the back foot by asking them to explain themselves!
Simon Thomson
Unfortunately change at this scale takes time - the trust survey is a great indicator of where we are getting it right and wrong - let’s keep telling the truth and fixing things step by step...

Battle of the "winter blues"
Recognising Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and the steps you can take to help manage
It’s fair to say that most of us might feel a bit deflated now that the temperature has dropped and the nights draw in.
But did you know that for one in 15 people in the UK, such feelings can develop into Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)?
‘Symptoms can vary, but if you sense a persistent low mood, irritability, lack of energy and feelings of despair, guilt or worthlessness – please speak to your GP or health professional,’ says health and wellbeing manager, Dan Clarke.
‘There’s no exact cause of SAD, but it’s often linked to a disruption to the body clock, reduced sunlight exposure or a hormone imbalance through shortened daylight hours.’
Steps you can take:
- Take your breaks, get as much natural sunlight as possible
- Eat a healthy, balanced diet
- Exercise regularly, outside if possible
- Avoid stressful situations and take steps to help manage stress
- Talk to family or friends or speak to a health professional
- If you suspect someone’s not themselves, check if they’re ok.

Strees Awareness ....The subject that just keeps giving!
They're going crazy with the cut & paste:
Get as much natural sunlight as possible
Excercise regularly, outside if possible
Avoid stressful situations and take steps to help manage stress
Do they actually know what Posties do for a living? Dickheads.

Absolute wage thieves living off hard graft. Utter scum doing f all. These messages are an insult while posties suffer through lack of recruitment, too large walks by design and poor poor management. Utter scumbags.
