It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Slang problems, yeah yeah... but I think I will work that problem out.
In Serbian post is quite similar, same problems, we are facing not so much job loses but some serious work conditions problem. Postmen are in the most difficult
position because, due the transition and changes since communism, number of kilograms in bag are in constant growth. Number of postman not. Number of managers yes and I think that you all know what I am talking about.
But, I think that you are much more protected. For example, every sing post on net (including Royal Mail) has same, strongly set regulation for postman daily amount of kilograms in his beg. Correct if I am wrong, but 16 kg and 600 homes is amount of pressure that we can only dream for.
We have no regulations whatsoever and my team in Union of Postal workers and I are fighting with managers to finally set some rules because it is getting really ridiculous, funny and danger in same time. Many of our man is really sick (due the bag weight) and we are want to avoid tragic confidences to happen, and we had them trust me.
I am looking for some useful info, set of regulations or advice, and you can expect any kind of help from us.

His IP addresses checks out so unless he is really good at masking it through a proxy server based in Serbia he is legit. If so, it would be worth your Union pointing out just how much money would be saved by reducing the risk of injuries from overweight bags.
There is a very useful organisation here in Britain, which could give the Union of Postal Workers detailed information about the Health and Safety research we use, when setting our own standards. It is the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), at www.hse.gov.uk
They are responsible for Health and Safety rules for ALL Businesses in Britain, and have spent huge amounts of money over the years to get the right balance between safety and efficiency.

Brisomerset wrote some, maybe reasonable, accusations that I find it so funny, and I wrote him private message with some explanations, and I hope he will be convinced. Maybe we (workers and managers) in Serbia are naive and not so advance in union struggle? We don't have this forms of communication and probably we have lot to learn from you...

Yes we do have all that health protection but only AFTER the worker gets in medical trouble. No regulations are set to prevent problems. If I understood it right, Royal Mail postman's bag is 16 kg max? Only postman put out bag to weighing machine. 20 kg or more at start, some more kg are down the road. That is why I need some of your regulations, to show our managers what it's like in EU, because that's a magic words in Serbia today. Everything that's is coming from EU must NOT be under any question.
So, you get my point?
