how the hell are you going to go to the chemists or even a shop if you've run out of things ??, obviously RM are trying to catch you out : 'All absences are genuine " unless ?k979aaa wrote:Maybe royalmail is going to be taging us all next just like criminal's?.24601 wrote:At our Work Time Lying this morning our DIM told us that when you're off sick you must stay in the house at ALL times.

we had there will be "enquires" in another public service , which in English meant the gossip grapevine ; so don't get seen , not sure if RM are BSing and it's wishful thinking but RM never fail to surpass themselves with the Kray twins in charge.
I'm sure RM will pick their victims very carefully especially with the dumb political correctness from a long gone era .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've seen that tried out but that's with a zero tolerance drugs and alcohol policy to stop a p***y culture and catch the ****heads out . From experience I can remember staff looking for Brownie points and following people home and it got very childish ,petty and silly which RM could excel at .madelin4 wrote:Impossible to do, especially if one live on ones own!!!! never listen to that!!! if your at the chemist what are they going to do, go and check out the cctv cameras from the chemist!!YEA!!!!
Some private firms do professional ( RM do not do Professonial ) spying but my experience was just a load of people acting like a bunch of bickering yokels or old women . A old mate of mine got sacked when off sick as his boss had seen him at Anfield on Match of the Day , the best one was running a market stall and got seen by the AM .
Somebody lost a Tribunal case recently , he'd been off with workplace stress and the Doctor recommended he did magic tricks etc at kids parties as rehabilitation , unfortunately the Personnel Director just happened to be in his audience .

sounds like a ATOS nurse will ask intrusive questions to try and trip you up , it's done in Telecoms, the union had reservations but said it was preferable to bullying "medical expert " , managersalangate wrote:We have to stay in between the hours 10.00am till noon so someone from wherever can ask you some questions on a day that they pick for you i e phone call and a follow up letter.madelin4 wrote:Impossible to do, especially if one live on ones own!!!! never listen to that!!! if your at the chemist what are they going to do, go and check out the cctv cameras from the chemist!!YEA!!!!

We've been told that we are expected to be able to be contacted at all times, but not once told that we should not leave the house. Imagine phoning your doctor and telling him he'll need to come round as your work says you can't go out. I would say that any attempt by RM to have you monitored would certainly come under some sort of harassment laws. I must admit when I was off last year with a Neurological problem my gaffer did call about once a week, but not once did he ask if I had any idea when I would be able to return to work, only that it would be good in operational terms to have me return as soon as I could. Some managers are just idiots who cannot properly pass on 'orders' from above.

Q. Who exactly are the Competition?
A. People who'll post a letter for you.

What rubbish. It used to be that you shouldn't be out after 9 pm - what was magical about that I have no idea. Strangely enough I recently had radium treatment for a not too serious complaint, that treatment meant I was toxic for 21 days, starting out as very toxic then gradually reducing. For the first 10 days I couldn't have close contact with anyone, I even had to sleep away from the wife - the best time of my life, for the first 7 days. I had to stay off work for the first 10 days which was classed as sickness - though I wasn't sick. So according to this manager I should have stayed in the house.

Not being nosey, but was the treatment for a thyroid problem. I had radio-iodine treatment 8 years ago for an over-active thyroid, either that or take tablets every day for the rest of my life. The treatment didn't work and I now have an under active thyroid and have to take a tablet a day for the rest of my life. The doctor told me I'd be radio-active for a month and to avoid any contact for 5-10 days, gradually getting back to normal. It was great, unable to work for the first week (this was pre-RM) then back trying to infect(?) my then employer. He was even worse then RM, so it shows how bad he was, oh for a union in that job!dvbuk55 wrote:What rubbish. Had this hassle a few years ago when I was off sick. The big area cheese saw my face on a bus and I put my hand up to him. Next morning I had dumb and dumber on the doorstep.
Imagine their faces when I answered with a broken arm.
D'oh!
