I have been considering relocating and would like to transfer to another office in a different part of the country. Does anyone know if there is a step by step document that details the procedures and protocol? If a job is advertised do you still have to go through the application and processes normally required of those applying externally for the vacancy even though you are currently employed by Royal Mail?
Thanks for your anticipated help.

Re: Transfering offices
Yip you still apply but don't go through the interview I think. You're automatically transferred if there's a vacancy. Would do no harm to put a few feelers out my making contact with local doms and asking if they have a vacancy. Maybe they just haven't got round to advertising it!

Re: Transfering offices
As above, you still need to fill in the application but you don’t need to do the online tests or have another interview.
You will only be considered for the post if it matches your current hours and transfers go on seniority and whether anyone else applying for it has previously applied for a transfer but been unsuccessful.
Your DOM can give you a print out of the full procedure and guidelines.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
