What about when customers will ask for a receipt for their returns?
We will have to carry receipts with us?

No, it’s all electronic and online. As soon as you scan it it says item collectedJanet Brum wrote:What about when customers will ask for a receipt for their returns?

I'm not talking about businesses, just regular senders. Most people won't just shrug and say 'oh well, maybe tomorrow' when a slot isn't available, they'll go elsewhere and remain there until they run into an issue with that.number one wrote:DGH wrote:Only 5 slots are available to be booked per delivery per day. The limit won’t change as this product is aimed at internet shopping returns not home businesses sending items. Home businesses have to pay a few thousand pounds a year unless they spend over a certain amount on postage in which case they get a free collection.

Its not about collections from business its members of the public returning items that don't fit or they don't likeDGH wrote:I'm not talking about businesses, just regular senders. We've been told that our HCT duty holders will have to attempt collections. Depending upon the number and size of items at each collection point, and how full the trolley is, the duty holder has to decide whether they can fit the collection in the trolley or not. If not, they have to call the office and rudely interrupt the pie and cake eating so that one of the managers can arrange for a van to do the collection.
This is what, during office training sessions conducted by management, we have been told is the protocol to be followed in my office....the bit about pie eating was a little bit of journalistic license on my part.

i can imagine the utter clusterfuck that's going to cause on a daily basis.Ozzvaldo wrote:We've been told that our HCT duty holders will have to attempt collections. Depending upon the number and size of items at each collection point, and how full the trolley is.
Ring ring ring ring ring ring
What is it I was asleep?!
Boss I have a problem, collection from customer is too big for the trolley
Can you return later when it's empty?
Still not going to be big enough boss
I will arrange a van to pick it up
Customer wants to know when as they've waited in all morning for me
I'll have to ring the driver
You gonna ring the customer back?
Can't you wait till I ring YOU? Or better still ring the driver yourself?
Well I don't have their number or a phone. They're not going to go out of their way to help me are they? YOU have the authority so it best coing from you rather than me arguing the toss with the driver
I haven't the time for all this, I have to drown some kittens in a minute. I know, I'll drop this hot turd in the callers office's lap. That'll leave me plenty time for some evil laughter and cruel contemplation later
Repeat potentially five times daily per HCT duty

If they are expecting us to use our own phones for all this then i can see quite a few posties refusing or saying they dont have a phone or left it at home/battery flat /no credit etc etc. As you say Sir Henry, a total cluster f'k and doomed to fail right from the start.

The expectation is you'll use the phone function on your PDA. Obviously that depends on the PDA actually working. . .Ricardo44 wrote:If they are expecting us to use our own phones for all this then i can see quite a few posties refusing or saying they dont have a phone or left it at home/battery flat /no credit etc etc. As you say Sir Henry, a total cluster f'k and doomed to fail right from the start.
As so many people on here constantly say: Why worry? Just use the cut off procedure if you think you'll overrun. Just remember though, Consumer Collections, like Collections on Delivery, Tracked and Specials will be the things you're told to prioritise.

The reason to worry is because the screws have a reputation for circumnavigating agreements to the detriment of us poor working stiffs.
Anyone who goes around with "Just cut off" on their lips is obviously our rep who's never there when it kicks off.

I think many will just use their own phone as it will be quicker. Its asking a lot though as most HCT duties get hammered with packets and it can be a real challenge with such limited space in the barrow.
