Masks in office

Post by PostmanBitesDog »

What I'm getting peed off about is the nonchalant, lackadaisical, apathetic, covidiotic attitude my coworkers and managers have in our office over the past few weeks regarding masks and social distancing. The precautionary attitude has gone away now. The social distancing signs are being ignored (if they've not fallen off the notice boards or scraped off the floor by constant foot traffic), and nobody wears a face mask anymore except me.

It's as if COVID-19 never existed in the first place. Like some kind of Walking Dead episode that people raved about and took it to be too real. Some of the guys in the office are now doubting that SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) ever existed, while others that do believe it existed think that there's been a miracle; it's sort of disappeared.

Well, fark those fools! :evil/mad

I've booked a week's holiday for August to a European country (not Spain). I don't want to find that the destination country I'm flying to will implement restrictions on travelers from the UK just because some a-holes in England want to be covidiots.

Wear a mask! And social distance!

The other day, some covidiot posted a reply to a comment I made on YouTube about COVID-19 not entering its second wave as expected because it's still in the first wave.

This is his reply:

People like that should wear an ID bracelet like the do not resuscitate things they hang off your bed.

I'm sorry Mrs Smith we could have saved your son but he was convinced there was no virus and who are we to argue with someone who gets his facts from the internet.

But we're apparently the idiots because we can't see the conspiracy that involves every doctor, scientist and politician in the world...and obviously Bill Gates.

Bill Gates is about as convincing a Bond Villian as Telly Savalas was. If they had went with Bezos or the FB guy or that idiot Musk or even our own Richard Branson who let's face it already has the island I might have thought about it, not for long obviously but Gates hasn't touched a microchip since Windows 98 when they were the size of a bar of chocolate. He probably gets his grandkids to set up his wifi.

The trouble is a lot of people get their information from some blogger on YouTube who also believes the world is flat. You just have to ask yourself this. Can you name one person who has had whooping cough, mumps, measles, Rubella, polio, tuberculosis or any other now preventative disease?

I certainly don't. However I do know someone who didn't vaccinate their first child against whooping cough. This was because someone close in his family had a condition that made him think twice. That child got whooping cough when we were all on a family holiday. I'll tell you this. It was f88cking awful listening to that five year old trying to cough her lungs up.

Oh, great. Just great. :evil/mad Just what I've been fearing.

NPR (July 28, 2020) ~ German And U.K. Officials Warn Of A Possible New COVID-19 Wave In Europe
The European Union successfully flattened the curve of COVID-19 cases in the spring – but a second wave could be building in parts of the EU, according to both British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the head of Germany's disease agency.
"I'm afraid you are starting to see, in some places, the signs of a second wave of the pandemic" in Europe, Johnson said Tuesday.
While the EU's most populous countries such as Germany, France and the U.K. are reporting case rates at or below 16 people per 100,000 people over the past 14 days, many of their close neighbors continue to struggle. Sweden's rate of new cases is nearly 35 per 100,000 people; Belgium's is nearly 30. Both Bulgaria and Portugal are reporting high rates – and Romania's is among the worst in the EU, at 66.7.

Spain we already know about, but other countries in the E.U. are beginning to spike upwards.

Well, my travel plans for next month haven't been affected. Yet. :nervous

Especially for the likes of populist leaders who wish to ignore the dangers of COVID-19 or worse, peddle nonsense conspiracy theories. Donald ("person, woman, man, camera, TV") Trump peddles bollocks theories. So does Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro (who was tested positive); Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin (tested positive on April 30th); Iranian Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar (positive in February); Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi (also positive in February).

And let's not forget that massive ponce, Boris Johnson. It almost killed him. Now he's all confused on what to do.

Here's the latest authoritarian leader who babbled bullcrap and can't look after himself: Belarus President who Claimed Vodka Would Cure Coronavirus Diagnosed with COVID-19
