Sorry if I gave the impression that we still had mopeds, ours where removed 2 months ago after a Pegasus revision but I refused to use them when they did have them.

Yes,both have been banned due to a fatality.dvbuk55 wrote:Oddly enough brother I was under the same impression, after a fatality when a young lad was killed whilst using his own, and the use of motorcycles was also banned. There does seem to be a different ruling in Ireland though as I am sure I saw an article in one of the magazines, either voice or the other one showing new machines being delivered. I don't think it's my age because it was fairly recent - last year sometime.brothermagrew wrote:Hasn't the use of mopeds been banned in Royal Mail?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Hi Viz vests
no ban down here DOM keeps talking about it but not enough vans to cope as office a long way from the deliveries so still using themPOSTMAN wrote:Yes,both have been banned due to a fatality.dvbuk55 wrote:Oddly enough brother I was under the same impression, after a fatality when a young lad was killed whilst using his own, and the use of motorcycles was also banned. don't know which area you are in, but out of curiousity, hasn't your workplace health and safety rep or area health and safety rep made the management aware of the ban and possibly also notified CWU headquarters health and safety department that they are still being used.

Re: Hi Viz vests
Good for you on the issue of not using your car. However, if the ban is in place by Royal Mail, then in the unfortunate and unforseen circumstances of another AOD surely the management at your DO will be deemed to be vicariously liable. In other words, they chose to ignore their duty of care to their employees by not implementing the ban in full. Some would therefore and correctly deduce that if an AOD did occur then the circumstances were totally forseeable as a result of their omissions to implement the ban.if they know of a ban they are ignoring it but we are not rocking the boat to much as we are sited a long away from the deliveries and would be abandoned miles away from the depot with no way of getting back without them as i have no intention of using my carbrothermagrew wrote:no ban down here DOM keeps talking about it but not enough vans to cope as office a long way from the deliveries so still using themPOSTMAN wrote:Yes,both have been banned due to a fatality.dvbuk55 wrote:Oddly enough brother I was under the same impression, after a fatality when a young lad was killed whilst using his own, and the use of motorcycles was also banned. In addition from the CWU Lighten the Load Booklet:
Private Motorcycles, Mopeds, and Scooters, etc:
These are banned from use in Royal Mail and must not be used. Many are unsuitable for
deliveries and are dangerous, especially when carrying a load in bad weather. In the event
of an accident if using an unofficial means of transport you could be held liable and face
serious consequences such as prosecution and disciplinary action.
