Being collated in envelopes will never, ever happen as people would bin them without even looking at a single one.tramssirhc wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 14:28That's been in the pipeline for years. Plan was they'd turn up collated in envelopes. Still waiting for it to happen.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 13:05I wouldn't put it past RM to eventually get small machines which can collate multiple D2Ds together.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 11:56Likely bouncing them out the door early due to all the mail not having to be sorted for the entire office meaning the delivery span is much longer and more of your hours are spent outdoors on foot and less indoorsWullie10 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 11:33So they were made to work over their hours ?tramssirhc wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 11:00The trials saw workers doing 100% over two days. It is one of the reason fatigue is so high.
Royal mails grand plan has always involved less time sorting more time on the street

Re: Update
One of two things are happening, either Royal Mail are stringing the union along until the select committee is over next week so they can pretend they are genuinely still trying or Two more weeks are needed for Martin and the gang to get the wording right so it doesn’t seem like we are being stitched up again.

Re: Update
I would expect there's a lot more fatigue from the extra weight carried in each and every bag, because 2 or 3 days mail and leaflets being carried, as opposed to a single day's mail, also more to bundle each day. Longer to do each loop. More getting in and out of the van, having had to chuck out small parcels out from each bag and having to do them from the van, as too many bundles of mail in each bag.Perseus wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 12:47I often wondered what the issue was with people talking about fatigue as surely people were just working the same hours, roughly. If the office was now getting out on delivery an hour earlier for instance, this would equate to an hour extra walking outdoors each day.
Could anyone in a pilot office share the outdoor time they had before and after the pilot started.

Re: Update
Nah, I’m not inclined to think that’s what is causing the fatigue, after all a bag is easily split into 2 with a bit of common sense. I’d be more inclined to think the fatigue part is coming from the sudden increase in outdoor walking time.goneaway wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 18:27I would expect there's a lot more fatigue from the extra weight carried in each and every bag, because 2 or 3 days mail and leaflets being carried, as opposed to a single day's mail, also more to bundle each day. Re: Update
I've brought this up many times and always been told it isn't mandatory equipment, where the hypothetical raised is always a dead Tuesday (remember those?) where you'd be pushing an LWT with so little in the bags that it would be eminently feasible to just carry it on your shoulder.Gingerbread Fred wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 18:44Using the trolley has been mandatory for years.... If we're bringing back 2006 callrates we should also bring back the 3~3½ hour spans that accompanied them.tramssirhc wrote: ↑16 Mar 2026, 14:33The outdoor span is longer. Some are 5 to 5.30 outdoor. Call rates over 85%.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?
