Management have been tasked with utilising all paid hours, it doesn't matter whether it's used as a tool to reduce indoor hours or balance outdoor, it will be used for both but indoor is easier to manage, doesn't involve messy revisions and will cause less disruption.
Blatant imbalance of duties will be addressed but trying to move 10 minutes from one duty onto another is obviously pointless, it's much easier to give someone 10 minutes more indoor work or 10 minutes less.

And how are they going to know what time to get you out the door? Average the actuals?Woody Guthrie wrote:Management have been tasked with utilising all paid hours, it doesn't matter whether it's used as a tool to reduce indoor hours or balance outdoor, it will be used for both but indoor is easier to manage, doesn't involve messy revisions and will cause less disruption.

Managers are not going to do anything, they haven’t even got time to sort the holidays out. This would need to be done by the planning team oh and guess what there isn’t a planning team because they got rid of them all.

Thats what they did in our office, made the ones who where claiming overtime everyday or cutting off full prep and added more ips onto the rest.Woody Guthrie wrote:As I've said before it's unlikely work will be transferred from one delivery to another except in extreme cases. It's much more likely that indoor work will be redistributed to allow longer deliveries to leave the office earlier with the shorter deliveries picking up the extra indoor workload.
If you're only taking 3 hours to complete your delivery you don't need to leave the office until 3hrs + traveling time before your finish time. That could mean something like your delivery doesn't get prepped until after the IPS is complete or until other duties are fully prepped. There are a few ways to make people work their hours without moving deliveries around.
The result was, no difference whatsoever. Even being full prep they still went out the office last (after passing the prep test) and still finished at the same time. It was pointless so they got their ips back because everyone else said why should they do their indoor work especially when it made no difference to their finishing time. These rounds are nowhere near the heaviest deliveries mailwise (mail counts used to prove it) but the people on them just dont want to be out any earlier so it was pointless trying to get them out earlier.

Goes to show how mindset, intention and lack of incentive can extend a delivery...citypostie wrote:Thats what they did in our office, made the ones who where claiming overtime everyday or cutting off full prep and added more ips onto the rest.Woody Guthrie wrote:As I've said before it's unlikely work will be transferred from one delivery to another except in extreme cases. Anyone know any planners? Did they train posties or screws to do the job then jettison them after royally screwing each and every one of the walks? Our old rep signed off on the revision as he thought he'd be alright as the PHG. When he found out he'd be expected to do some delivery he realised he'd been had over a barrel and wrapped in.

The horror of helping out older or those less physically able people who do their damndest to work hard we should sack them immediately.number one wrote:Yeah lets all do more work to accommodate slower workers.clashcityrocker wrote: Can't you simply adjust the loops so you take a little bit more and he does a little bit less.
Now if they are lazy heel draggers, I'd agree with you, its a pity that managers don't use the process that is available to them.

We have a planner in our office - we still haven't totally gone over to the new delivery methods so he is being kept on site.Sir Henry wrote:number one wrote:Managers are not going to do anything, they haven’t even got time to sort the holidays out. This is not something management can ignore, all of the IT systems are now linked and talking to each other. With a couple of clicks Sue Walley can see what time you finished today. There's now no hiding place for managers and they will come to hate the actuals far more than we will.

Well in Yorkshire we don't use bikes, but essentially yes we are still mostly on singleton deliveries - although it is changing.number one wrote:When you say you haven’t totally gone over to the new delivery methods what do you mean? Still on bikes?

Still reckon this won’t come in as purported to; due to either too burdensome to micromanage on the floor, or it’s abandoned due to delivery rate slowing right down.
Edit: I’ll add just to be ballsy, I bet loads of offices including my own are still in practice operating on job n knock for most in one year’s time.

Been in this firm for 33 years and it's alwàys been the same. If you are efficient and good at the Job you get penalised while the slower ones are given help etc.
I'm 56 soon and could do any of the walks in my office easily in the time allowed ,I dont run and do it properly yet some go over daily and book OT.
