Think you'll find posting derogatory comments about your employer (whoever they might be) is rather more than "saloon bar opinion" as it cuts across the "employer/employee" trust and confidentiality agreement.
I'm sure you would feel most aggrieved were RM to post negative or unsubstantiated allegations on a public-accessed web-site regarding you or your performance.
That said, there's still nothing official about the two/four employees sacked at Bristol for alleged breaches, which is surprising as normally the PO Intranet lists dismissals for cases considered out of the ordinary.
Now this is just my opinion but a site such as this would wither and die if RM employees felt that their issues, opinions, complaints, and indeed themselves were taken seriously and dealt with in a fair and above board manner.

This board did not exist AFAIK when we were told we were overpaid and inefficient. It then did start up but was a quiet forum with only a few members and then AL and AC said sorry no talking that's the deal take it or leave it. The CWU started to talk about a ballot for IA and since then and during the IA this board has become popular.

There will always been some complaining about work and the boss, its human nature, its how you handle it that make the difference.
Royal Mail managers do go on public forums masquerading as Joe Public e.g. "I only asked a simple question , only to met by abuse , even the site owner joined in " about this very site. Or you get Senior Managers going on forums to turn Joe Public against posties at every opportunity .

Judges have deemed forum comments to be saloon bar opinion . To quote Pete Keenlyside no names were mentioned , there was nothing abusive , derogatory or threatening , it appears that the PO intranet site is being selective about what it reports for some strange reason . RM's Communication lacks joined up thinking , sends mixed messages, scores own goals , it's contradictory , begs more questions than it answers , deceitful and disgenious ,look at that nonsense over pensions in The Mirror RM gets what it deserves online IMHO

You've had the idiotic mods on Hellfail and the Postmanscab sites, the constant negative & derogatory propaganda , everything is all for a purpose . :Applause :Applause :Applause

Course bearing in mind our current situation, local this, local attack that, and given the fact that the CWU is not exactly the cannonball express in terms of information dissemination; then the last thing a national employer planning strategic and isolated attacks would wan't to exist is any form of instant national communication available to it's victims. Cut them off by ANY means then cut them down.

ps N Not one fecking swear word... :Very Happy
It certainly is a sad state of affairs that some people in the business don't have enough to do that they trawl the Internet looking for employee comments they disagree with that they can then use to make those employees lives difficult. I know it happens because... it happened to me for things I said elsewhere, things that by no interpretation of any Conduct Code could've been seen as being in breach and were read by maybe 40 people in the world. Unfortunately one of those 40 was a RM employee who had an axe to grind. Since I was sort-of-known to be vocal about my opinions and not necessarily tow the party line at every instance, nor afraid to ask questions of very senior staff direct to their face that they didn't like to answer, I feel it very possible that they launched an investigation into me to see what they could throw at me. As I said to them at the time, if you examine ANYONE to close enough scrutiny you will always find something.

In an analogy I made, I bumped into someone walking past them, and they shot me. What they subjected me to was completely disproportionate to what happened. Still... we will see what the courts will say soon.

On a related issue, the PEC agreed ballots for industrial action at two Bristol offices over the dismissal of two members of staff for comments they were alleged to have made on the royalmailchat website from their own computers and in their own time.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Management should realise that we often work in challenging circumstances, most of us spend most of the working day away from colleagues, and this forum is a valuable asset in allowing us to let off steam to our work mates at the end of the day. Better a few perhaps ill chosen words on here than frustrations carried forward to the next day and taken out on the manager, colleagues or customers.

Being a cynical person and needing empirical evidence to be persuaded something is true, the answer to your question is "until I have that proof".
Just because six, sixty or even six thousand people come on a web-site, post opinions as facts and scream "because I said so, it happened to me" really doesn't count for anything.
The PEC motion means nothing, as it's couched in the usual non-committal legalese terms with the inherent get-out clauses.
But as you say, that one's been done to death and with no hard facts to resurrect it either.
I'm more interested in the RM managers posing as posters/using this site in Conduct Code cases allegations.

You only have to look at the Robert Peston BBC forums , the newspapers comment on this . You can always tell it's dark forces from RM as 1 . They lay it on too thick 2. The patronizing ,very contrived , cock and bull stories have more holes than a slab of ermental cheese 3 . It's always the same story , same chapter i. they all go home early, lazy , thieving , dishonest etc,etc ,etc , the rounds only last 2 1-2 hrs ii. we need a change of culture iii. Everyday I'm "ironically" threatened with B&H , which really means staff standing up to trumped up , bullying threats of wilful delay charges if cutting off -Plan B -the "nice poor royal manager" being the "victim" and those nasty bullying 70's militant trade unionists throwing the rule book at them .

It's time RM changed that stuck old record ?

With Burslem /Oxford it's staff deliberately scratching cars or union reps harassing people over the phone or unsolicited emails .Plenty of brownie points ,everyone singing from the RM Hymm sheet etc , "Nearer to my God than thee" as sung on the Titantic before it ended up 2 1-2 miles under would be the most apt one .

People like their prejudices confirmed , not debate , anyalsis and comment , that's why the Mail, Express & Sun rags are so popular

Been through this in another industry , any little thing that can be exaggerated , blown out of proportion , it'll be used , the drip , drip effect to make a case for privatization and subsequent management buy outs and of course the "magical " transformation
THOU SHALT NOT CRITICIZE TONY OR GORDON AND ROYAL MAIL ?
Image-Asperger's Syndrome? , only joking !, the character is actually based on Chris Donald's brother who was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome . Bit of a similarity to New Labour's Treasury Minister ? Stephen Timms ?

Are you for real!! You just on a wind up!!
So the PEC have agreed a ballot for nothing then!!
And as for the other point, how do you think that the Manager in question got to do what he has done?

Managers are on here, which aint a problem as we're called 'royalmailchat' they even had their own forum when the board 1st started.
But apart from 'DOM' who does not post much the others just look in.
And the Bristol lot are NOT the 1st to be pulled.

The point of this post by lovejoy and us now enforcing the rules more is to get their side of everything going on.
I'm interested and so are others in what they have to say,but it seems to me some are scared and others are here for the kill.

You will get your proof i'll make sure of that, but not now,it can't be done.

POSTMAN wrote:This announcement will be posted in all of the major forums, you will be able to reply to this in the one posted in the Blue Shirts forum.

We have had a member threatened with disciplinary action for a video posted on you tube.
This has also happened to another member on here,he has been threatened with the conduct code.
One member has deleted his posts.
One has had to leave here fearing his job.
And another one has been pulled into his DOM's office about comments he has made on here.

Not all of the above are related to RMC but i have had PM's from members regarding sarcy comments made to them from Managers regarding posting on here.

I welcome Managers on here and i have always said that,as i feel that it is important to hear their side.
But apart from the odd one or two they haven't been posting and just seem to lurk the site. That's not a major problem as Posties do the same, but it seems some are coming on here to catch some of you guys out.

That remains to be seen, but the wording suggests it's not a "case proved" scenario just yet.

As I don't know the facts of just what the "manager got to do what he has done" how can I say? Not here on a "wind up" at all, but old enough to know that so much stuff on the 'Net is slanted opinion/BS/crap posted as cast-iron facts, and needs taking with a large helping of salt.
