Despite sunday not ever being a working day. It is really unfair and most people have no idea it is done.
I only found out the hard way.
I have been told by senior posties that if you ring in on Saturday to say you will be in on Monday then they cant count Sunday. Not sure if this is true.

Sundays, Bank Holidays, rest days they count everything so 2 weeks should be 10 days but is really 14 days but my argument would be that if I'm not getting paid then I'm not due to work then I shouldn't have the days counted (maybe the union should get this injustice sorted out)

That's completely true teebs.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yes you can ring in to say you are resuming on an exempt day, and make sure you get a resumption number, to
prove you rang, or they may say they have no record of the call.

In that situation even on something to do with my own health and if it involved long term sick there is no way I would give them a definite day. My response would be something like - "Well I reckon I should be OK in about 3 weeks or so but I will be guided by my own Doctor as he knows my medical history better than anyone else".

So in a nutshell be as vague as possible but don't take the mickey would be a good general rule.
