In Confidence and without prejudice 09/09/07
This is from the document RM wanted the CWU to agree on Sunday:
Flexible Attendances - worked example
People will flex their attendances daily when required by up to two hours a day
- for start and / finish times.
Phase 1: People will work different hours on different days of the week to reflect the normal
workload of patterns in their office and different hours in winter and summer to reflect the
seasonal changes in volumes. We will introduce more flexible employment contracts to support
a range of new approaches such as seasonal and term time working and offer a wider range of
attendance options designed to meet the different needs of our people and the business.
From 1st October 2007
* Permanent adjustments to individual or groups of attendances made:
- Reasons for change explained and clearly communicated by managers.
- 7 days notice provided.
- +/- 2 hours to start and finish.
- Individual difficulties discussed and sorted on case by case basis.
* Different lengths of attendance on different days of week:
- Based on workload and forecast.
- Attendance balanced weekly (40 hours).
- Things we could consider are 4 day working, 9 day fortnights, 5 weeks on and one week off etc.
Phase 2: Once we have the appropriate systems in place we will introduce banked or annualised hours,
which will allow us all to be part of a modern, dynamic and flexible business. People will work fewer hours
in the summer and during quiet periods and more hours during busy periods such as Christmas and spring
and autumn pressure. To facilitate the introduction of annualised hours we will migrate to monthly pay by March 2008.
Annualised hours scheme will be phased in from April 2008.

Our Union rep put it on the board this morning. You should have seen the look on the faces of the waverers. Priceless. The document itself is quite long and I didn't get time to read it properly, but basically it says, "We're going to screw you into the ground, you useless pieces of s***. Go on strike will you? We don't care, this is what you will get when you come back!" To quote my colleagues, "STRIKE"

well said pinstripe i hope the strike breakers read it with total disbelief and realise what we have been fighting for.it might open their eyes and hopefully they might have a rethink on their actions (but they will still be a scab)

Part of the reason they think they can get away with this is that so many people, when put under pressure, come in early and do unpaid hours. This flexible hours nonsense is because they know if we go to 6.15 starts people will still come in at 5 and if we're on +/- 2 hours whatever time we're due in people will come in early and use their cars and not book pro delivery. Why can't everyone wake up, stop using your own time and your own vehicles, take your breaks and cut off at the proper finish time.
I don't understand why Al and AC think the workforce will accept this bullsh*t, how can a postie with kids or other obligations plan their life around this system.
WE MUST START WORKING TO RULE AND IT MUST BE NOW, ANY STRIKES MUST ON TOP OF WTR!!

Makes me laugh how those that cross the picket line are often the ones you hear moaning about the job. How they can have the nerve to moan in future when by their actions they`re saying to RM "Do what you want with me I don`t care and I can`t be bothered to fight".the fattun wrote:well said pinstripe i hope the strike breakers read it with total disbelief and realise what we have been fighting for.it might open their eyes and hopefully they might have a rethink on their actions (but they will still be a scab)

Exactly, in another thread i started under human rights legislation how can we have access to a family life treated like this?
Also during Winter how is a rural female postie gonna feel going down dark lanes on her 48 hour week? How about wlaking around after schools finished in some shitty sink estate. look how firemen are treated. All our walks will have to be risk assessed, heheheheh
