Well, it looks like the leak served it's purpose then: It guaged our reaction. And it was sufficiently bad, for the comms to be scuppered. Hopefully, it'll now lead to a return to the negotiating table too.

I Asked am Area Sec about this and this was his reply............

That is right from what we were told at the AGM by Noel McClean. HQ intend to go to Government and state as much on the grounds that they have now fulfilled their side of the deal.
Time is running out though to do this. If the overnment won't budge then I suppose it will have to go out to ballot anyway.
Also, Billy told the Government that if they do not sort the issue then expect zero help from the CWU in the general election. He said this at a Lobby on Pensions a few weeks ago. As I was there, I can vouch for his bluntness.
I suppose if the deal is partly resting on the finances of RM being sorted on the back of a deal on pensions, then it might unravel if Government don't intervene, ie the deal will be too costly for the company given the expected deficit.
There was an LTB supposed to be out at lunchtime today but I have not had anything yet.
Cheers

Re: NO AGREEMENT UNTIL PENSIONS IS RESOLVED!!
I also think we will be blackmailed into a yes vote, but I'm not sure that they will have the pension sorted before the election, so the agreement doesn't really mean much, as I think we will be stiffed by whoever wins the election. But we're being blackmailed at the moment, I'll be pushing hard for a no vote anyway.fishtank wrote:andy2007 wrote:Well, it looks like the leak served it's purpose then: It guaged our reaction.
