Re: sick excuse?
there was that " bonding with nature " & " stripping away the layers " that you tried - after reading " Health & Efficiency " too many times , - fortunately the copper said it were all right as long as you stayed in your garden and the magistrate bound you over .disgruntledpostie1 wrote:I'm banned from all the clinics over here, I may start coming over to the mainland to terrorise you lotstokes11eg wrote:disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Is caffine addiction a genuine illness? because I'm sure my managers suffer from it (not to mention a few staff)![]()

Seriously I think what happens with coffee is that people get hardened to it , so they'd need more to get a buzz - up to 13 cups a day , most people would be dehydrated , bad tempered etc and running to the gents .

Re: sick excuse?
OK all those managers reading this post. Answer me this! Are you told to issue stage warnings by the managers above you? Are you told to investigate accidents on duty expressly to downgrade them to "incidents" or do you do it simply to gain "brownie points" for your own promotion or survival ?

Some useful advice to be found at: http://www.cwubradfordanddistrict.org/advice.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

redman has previouly posted the below regarding sick stage warnings given out,he never did answer my question as to why these figures are given out.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

As for genuine illness, we as Managers are not permitted to give a personal opinion on someone's "illness", yes we have a real idea who has got pissed, the night before or who has been refused annual leave for one reason or another. As I have said all absences are deemed to be genuine and as no business could continually allow any members of staff ( Managers or front line) to take repeated sick leave with pay with no repercussions. The Thread starter is not alone un fortunately and I have no time for anyone taking the piss. I have been on a stage warning at least three times in my employment and all three times this followed a p[eriod in hospital, the latest a serious injury. I accepted it just as I accept I will continually issue warnings to staff that are unable to attend work for genuine reasons, because too many others play the system until such time they slip up with a " genuine" illness.
I recall interviewing one member of staff who told me in front of his union rep ( at Stage 3) "I really was ill the last time I was off,I may have had the odd skive previously but I was genuine this time" I could see the jaw drop on the CWU rep and yes I sacked him.
So you were an RM level 2 manager when you sacked him them?
