Will they have to listen to me singing along to the radio?
Yes, they're running a new competition on Robin where they'll upload videos of singing posties to see who has the best voice. 20 free stamps for the winner (2nd class).

🤣🤣🤣typical Royal mail nothing works properly.
I`d rather they spent money on properly working vans rather than going all Big Brother. :hmmmm

Work in an MC then. That's 24/7 recorded surveillance, and no-one moans.
And they can hear every word you speak? Video fair enough but not recording every conversation, some things are private and not for the management to share and discuss

It's all cleaners, elephants, and mates who don't clock off that work there.
And someone with bizarrely naive Left Wing views. They probably find camera surveillance strangely reassuring.

It would be interesting if RM ever tried to take action against someone for saying something inappropriate in a van and getting recorded saying it. I think it's fair enough to have external recording dash cams for accident investigation but sound recording without any briefing or signage? Is that allowed?

They can only access the footage from an incident. So if someone front ends you, the footage from that will be requested and only the requesting manager, plus the driver, plus their rep, can view it.

Therefore, any sound recorded will only cover the seconds before, during and after an incident. It is more likely that you would be seen not wearing your seatbelt or using your phone.

Don’t forget wanting to finish early so you can get the quicker bus, only 2 dinnerladies in the canteen not 3, and complaints about remembering to put mugs in the dishwasher.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It’s not the camera las you need to worry about - it’s the driver reports from the new telematics
Just gone live at our office with NO prior warning - 450 staff - already had several taken off driving
I’ve gone from high 90% average to mid 50s
Records every sec you drive with no seatbelt, and penalises you for excessive steering/braking at 5-10mph
And even union can’t see the data being used against us

If it is going to be used against us then we'll all just all have to learn to take our time when driving and if that means bringing Tracked and 1c back to the DO it'll be RM's problem not ours.

Let them take us off driving then, as that is a win. They'll soon have not enough drivers and come back begging.

This. I was taken off driving three years ago for around three months, easiest and stress free time I’ve had at RM.

It ain’t been that simple
Seatbelt is a sacking offence and it records even 1 second with out it on
We’ve been given no standard/metrics as to how we need to drive - OPG 42 years in with no previous now being told he’s high risk
There are only so many non driving jobs in the office so people may be sent to rurals
But again I stress we’re being given NO evidence or training and the union have just said “not a lot we can do as we don’t have access to the reports / data”
