Today in my office was a nightmare. There had been a Sunday shift in yesterday to sort most of the backlog from the IA so every frame was covered in flats. Honestly, I couldn't get near my frame for them. Took about 10 mins to clear them out the way just so that I could get to my frame. Busiest I have ever seen it and I include Christmas pressure.

We've been told we have all week to clear the stuff, but even that is pushing it.

To put it into perspective - I started at 08:15 with a scheduled finish time of 14:15. I got out the office at 11:25 after leaving NINE trays of mostly mailsort flats, although there was some 2nd class stuff included in this. Got finished just before 15:30.

The walk I was doing today isn't too bad. There are only 2 pouch boxes, but they are placed well enough to enable splitting quite well, so I was never breaking my back.

All in all, it looks like it is going to be a rough week.

Steve.. A few things mate.... U say u finish at 14:15 but finished at 15:30... I hope you put in for the O/T???

And if your work area is so bunged up and you cant get to your frame.... THIS IS A H&S matter... HEALTH AND SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT....

Doing work in such conditions is wrong.... Have your H&S rep down to asses your office and make RM move the work...... Not you... Its not in your 318 RM caused this mess make them clear it up....

Agree about the H&S. The office was a disgrace this morning. Flats and trays of mail everywhere.

People were getting stressed and close to losing the plot. I've gotten to the stage where I don't really care anymore. I just go in, do my bit then go home. I'll do overtime IF it suits me, but if not I tend to let the managers know that I'll be unable to complete and leave it up to them whether I stream or "get assistance".

Steve good man ,... But get the H&S sorted... Get a few people that talk to the union rep and get the AREA REP for H&S down... He will be very busy but better than an injury which could put someone out the job for life or worse... I kid you not.... And RM cant do shite about it..... FECKS EM RIGHT UP ALL BY THE RULES..... as old BIG AL would say.... "A WIN WIN SITUATION."

Ok i know that you get your meal break and that the 20min and 10min breaks were 'grace breaks' management have now removed them leaving only the meal break

But the work force are getting thier own back by walking 1 YORK at a time, Carring 1 BAG to another cage in the seg, putting PRIORITYS in a sepaerate york, stacking trays 5 high NOT 6 and basicly working to H&S guidlines

this is causing so much Crap the boss's estimate in the region of 40-50,000 items of Letters and Mech mail will fail tonight alone

.

I know that at least 100-150 yorks of STL1 failed on cross docking operations did fail tonight.

Maybe by the end of the week the breaks will be back

our day today was a shocker..the dom came round and told the manager that we had to clear ALL the backlog tomorrow

some of the posties have about 15 trays of flats,and more bundles then they can put on thier benches and they want it clear by thursday...talk about health and safety..it would be physically impossible to take all that out in 1 day..all the posties on our section have at least 7 trays of flats at least,not including whats coming in tomorrow.

yet our dom wants it out..beggers belief what goes on in these doms heads..

I can understand why the DOM would want the mail to go out. What are you all going to do about it?

fair enough but looking at all the backlog we have,its impossible to take it all out in one hit..it aint gonna happen...for one thing the frames wouldnt take that amount of mail and for another,i aint the bionic.man.

What was the weather like today? It's been nice and cool and dry in Bradford. Lovely walk weather!

Better not be heavy I have had 3 heavy days already.

Huddersfield was dull and overcast in fact on some deliveries points I was activating the security lights at midday.

Utter disaster today. The SOM demanded everyone got back onto the sorting for an extra 30 minutes. I was already cutting off before this announcement.
Once I finally got out of the office with my 4 bags my first letter was finally delivered at 12 o'clock

I reckon at least half the walks in the office cut off today, with most leaving way more than half the delivery in the frame. So no chance of taking the whole delivery tomorrow either.
Did get some measure of revenge on the SOM, he lives on my walk and his street was one of the many that stayed in

Well today was a strange one. Managers bumbling from one bad decision to another. Definately crisis management!!! Wish us 'mere mortals' knew what was actually going on. Maybe asking about lieu days didnt help my cause......

Been heavy all week,our office is not 2 bad 3or 4 walks with a bit of backlog and we rolled some mailsort over,Heard that our mail centre is full to the roof.
