I have every confidence in this being a massive clusterf..k,before this covid thing we had singleton duties with the biggest vans and the town walks trying to get everything for 2 walks into a combi van,Royal mail is the epitome of the 7 P's

Cars shouldn't be getting used on delivery though.

As a result of the Covid and no van sharing we have apparently had one postie using his car for a while but I only realised this was happening a few days ago. I doubt he has business insurance on his car though.

I think even though people are lazy that there will be limited demand for this service. Apart from at Xmas there has been limited use of the 'age verification' product and less use of the service to deliver to specific occupants at a residence. Its not a free service either plus the public or businesses can currently drop off parcels etc at delivery offices or post office without any additional charge.
If it did take off in a big way there wouldn't be capacity in the vans to hold them. Plus we run over time on a regular basis anyway so there isn't time to do it especially if they aren't ready when we arrive to collect. Literally every minute counts nowadays and we haven't got the time even for the occasional short chat to a recipient.

We had our training few weeks back , as long as the PDAs dont play up it seems a simple enough procedure , apparently you will be given the weight and dimensions of the items so if they are oversized the van duties will pick them up.Its 72 p an item.

wot is classed as oversize. Yesterday we had loads of Amozon prime parcels to deliver. I'm not saying big but I had 6 which practilly filled the van. I've asked managers, got the standard shoulder shrugg. I also think this will be big for RM as in current lockdown, people won't have to travel. Think it's a brill idea, but not planned properly.

Planned perfectly as they used the standard "Posties have the time for everything built in to their duty/Traffic Figures say yes/Persecute those that won't work past their time" algorithm

You mean walkers are picking some of them up? I'm pretty sure in my office its vans only.

Early finishers will have extra added to duties very soon all finish times are being monitored by area managers, that will teach them

Maybe so but then they will just stop coming in early for nothing, take their breaks and start handing back. Would probably cause more hassle than it’s worth unfortunately.

So up to 20kg per packet and up to 5 packets per address and up to 5 addresses per day? So potentially an extra 500kg load in an already packed van or am I reading this wrong?
Also customers printing their own return labels which will be unreadable/scannable at times especially if left on doorsteps in the rain or do we not have to scan them? Zero mention of this from management and zero training as per usual.

Work Place Coaches should have completed the Training by the 9th Oct
