How much time would you say it is roughly when it's all added up?Intercityfirm1970 wrote:In my DO I counted around 50 people daily working through there breaks and around 16 who start at least 30 mins before there start time most of these either get done for 12.30 or the ones who ghost fit perhaps half a walk in and still come back the office for 1.30 I've been on the job for 35 years and I've still yet to see the mentality change u till its to late.

Very intangible as everyone and office has different duty spans/structures but at face value 28 hours and that's just the coming in and working early and not taking meal reliefs.SpacePhoenix wrote:How much time would you say it is roughly when it's all added up?Intercityfirm1970 wrote:In my DO I counted around 50 people daily working through there breaks and around 16 who start at least 30 mins before there start time most of these either get done for 12.30 or the ones who ghost fit perhaps half a walk in and still come back the office for 1.30 I've been on the job for 35 years and I've still yet to see the mentality change u till its to late.

That's near enough a whole walk that they're enabling the DOM to remove from the officek979aaa wrote:Very intangible as everyone and office has different duty spans/structures but at face value 28 hours and that's just the coming in and working early and not taking meal reliefs.SpacePhoenix wrote:How much time would you say it is roughly when it's all added up?Intercityfirm1970 wrote:In my DO I counted around 50 people daily working through there breaks and around 16 who start at least 30 mins before there start time most of these either get done for 12.30 or the ones who ghost fit perhaps half a walk in and still come back the office for 1.30 I've been on the job for 35 years and I've still yet to see the mentality change u till its to late.

I never took out lapsing in 24 years doing this job. I never came in early unlike my colleagues who all ways seem to lapse.i all ways used a trolley as your supposed to unlike most of my colleagues. All ways took my 40 minute break unlike alot of my colleagues. Checked the van every day etc etc. I think I've made my point.. generally it's the posties themselves who have ruined this job and it's hard to have any sympathy for them.

Can a postie put a grievance against another postie?
Theres one chap who wont take parcels/packets on his lapsing and leaves it to 3 or 4 of us part timers who care about customers parcels to wipe his arse and take them out when we get back (and hes buggered off home, hes also a runner so finishes around 1hr early everyday). Dom just wants to keep the peace so wont take him and we dont have a rep.

If your doing it on overtime, stop doing it. Manager will have to step in and do packets themselves to declare a clear office. He/She will soon make the runner take their lapsing.leolion855 wrote:Can a postie put a grievance against another postie?

The grievance you have is with poor management not with other postie.

Actually, I would put in the grievance against the manager for not treating staff equally. That should sort it.leolion855 wrote:Can a postie put a grievance against another postie?

But its the postie defying the manager the managers trying to make him do it and he keeps refusing, the managers not at fault hereTrueBlueTerrier wrote:Actually, I would put in the grievance against the manager for not treating staff equally. If people did as they were told by the manager and not as they pleased there wouldnt be any problems.

Absolutely Managers responsibility. If postie refusing to work to their time then surely its classed as willful delay and is a conduct issue. DOM needs to grow some and act on the issue, if manager doesn't, which it sounds like he hasn't then manager is at fault.themailman wrote:This falls on the manager, every time.leolion855 wrote:But its the postie defying the manager the managers trying to make him do it and he keeps refusing, the managers not at fault hereTrueBlueTerrier wrote:Actually, I would put in the grievance against the manager for not treating staff equally. Either way it's not your problem, refuse to do any OT. Do your job as prescribed by RM and finish on your time. You are under no obligation to work past your finish time.

If the manager cannot get the person to do as they are told then they aren't much of a manager.leolion855 wrote:

More of a paper tiger.
Every office has at least one "colleague" who fits your description. Some have lots of them.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
